I'm playing Mabinogi right now, but mainly as a fashion simulator.

I also keep hearing good things about a game called Sword Art Online. I never played it, but I seen screenshots, and it seems like a spectacular anime MMO.

Your brain will get fried if you play Sword Art Online

^ lol.

Honestly, no MMO is as developed or complex as WoW is now. It's had so many years to work out all the kinks and really make the game feel like the true MMO experience.

I would consider Guild Wars 2, which has lots of events and fun but I guess a mildly derp endgame once you hit lvl 80. Also lots of people argue that the combat sucks due to the lack of skills, but I don't have too much of a quarrel with that.

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is also one of the way better P2P MMOs which has a pretty good load of content, pretty aesthetic, good-sized playerbase, etc.

Wildstar is pretty much dead, Elder Scrolls Online is dead since it was a terrible idea at the start to make any Elder Scrolls game online.

There aren't really any good NEW MMOs. Lots of them have potential like ArcheAge, but they all succumb to the effects of the pay 2 win freemium model. Stupid greedy companies. Games like Dungeons and Dragons Online (not the Neverwiniter D&D) or Lord of the Rings Online are good but past their prime with small playerbases and outdated graphics, etc.

I'm looking out to see if Black Desert Online is any good, although I have this feeling it'll end up being a P2W MMO like almost all the ones out right now. Everquest Next, being the next Everquest game (Everquest 1, 2, blahblah) has the largest potential to be good but it doesn't look like we'll even see a 2015 beta release at this point.

Any other F2P MMOs that are good or decent and still have an active (-ish) community: RIFT, TERA, uhhhhhhh...........

Well yeah, 2014 was not a good year for MMORPGs.

I'm currently subscribed to 3 mmos

Runescape
DCUO
Final Fantasy A Realm Reborn.

Depends on what you like

FF is a very very grinding game, slow to level up combat is the same as any other mmo tbh however it also has one of the best crafting systems i have seen in a mmo, lots of detail, no junk items, everything has a use.

DCUO is just awesome combat is fantastic, one of if not the best combat when it comes to mmos, it's like your playing a rpg you're not just sitting there pressing, 1,1,1,1,2,1,2,3,4,1,1,1,4, you actually have to block, interrupt, and combo, and that's before you even include the skill bar. It's also F2P and getting through the main story and to max level (only takes a week or 2) can be done easily on F2P

Runescape... well it's nice being able to half screen it on my laptop while watching anime or tv, going downhill alot, becoming a game of micro-transaction, more updates towards that than content, but I like the equality of skills, you can just do whatever you want you're not locked to classes.

I also play a little Planetside 2, great game if you like shooters and fps's in one, it also shares the same subscription as DCUO though both are FTP.

In the past I played Lord of the Rings Online, that's before it went F2P never played it since, but it was a fun game, i enjoyed.

Fallen Earth was also an interesting MMO, you use guns in the same way you would a FPS so it played a lot different when compared to normal MMOS.

If you want to give DCUO, RS or FF a shot and you play on Euro severs, i'm not gonna give you free stuff but i can help you with quests and things =)

FFXIV. You can switch to a completely different class at a click of a button, have a ton of cross-class skills, and when you're done playing a White Mage you can switch back to Warrior instantly and pick it up where you left off.

It also has, IMHO, *the* best story of any MMO out there. Actually, everything has a story. In WoW, especially now, there's no story just for your class. At best it was 'go see your trainer, your trainer will say, 'good job hitting 20, here's a new skill.'". In FFXIV, each class has an in-depth story where they teach you the tenants of your class, complete with antagonists. Heck, even the *crafting* classes have stories.

Also, they release tons of new content. Every couple months there have been patches where they reveal new dungeons and new things to explore and do.

So many fond memories of EQ but sadly it has not aged well enough for me to play it...plus the constant bombardment of expansions left me a little bitter. Scraped money together just in time to buy the new expansion and then another would be announced. It's got like 20+ at this point right?

Waiting to see if they can deliver with EQ Next. If they make bards similar to EQ I will play just to run around nonstop.
