As of 2012, the Madoka fandom. The show is nice. Some of the Madoka fans I have rather small beef with.

Bronies generally seem really difficult to communicate with and are extremely easy to troll (not that I troll bronies, I actually don't)
I often hear people talk crap about Naruto fans, but oddly enough I have never seen any of these fans go apeshit over something.

What else...
Fans of any Marvel or DC movie are insane, I've never seen people get so heated over fictional characters before, and most of them have probably never even read a comic book before.

Weeaboos are fucking awful, usually obsessed with Japan because they watch Anime and read Manga thinking they are now enlightned with what it means to be Japanese.
Same actually goes for Koreaboos, but they're usually only going crazy over music which I don't dabble in at all.

World of Warcraft lorebuffs are horrendous people more often than not.
So arrogant and presumptious it's nauseating to deal with.

As for the best fandoms?
Well I tend to have good conversations with fans of "Akira" and "Ghost in the Shell" but they don't have as much of a following as I'd want them to myself.

Genuine Tolkien fans (not just of the movies) are really pleasent people to talk to in my experience.

Final Fantasy 14 a realm reborn has a lot of good people, unlike World of Warcraft, I rarely meet toxic groups.

Old school video game people are really nice to talk to (collectors especially) genuinly helpful and even though there's that collectors envy, they are always willing to help each other out.

In my personal experience it goes sorta like this

Best: The nasuverse fandom. There seemed to be a lot of cool people who helped me get into the VN's, understand the complicated as hell rules of magecraft, and explaining the chronological order of the Kara no Kyoukai movies. Plus, its always funny that the fandom has solidarity by collectively ignoring the anime-that-shall-not-be-mentioned.

Worst: The big 3/Fans of extremely popular new shows, I loved Naruto, like reading One Piece, and still read Bleach (though it is torture now), but by all that is good, it seems impossible to have a civilized conversation with people about them, and most of the fans believe that [insert favorite series] is Gods gift to the world and cannot take any form of criticism. And I swear if I hear someone say that a new show is going to save anime again I'm gonna take a long walk off a short bridge...

As an aside, the most toxic, cancerous, and vile people come from League of Legends. Coming from someone who's played the game for almost a year

Not THE worst, but one of them, the Star Wars fandom. Some of the bitchiest, most vehement people on the planet.

One of the worst fandoms is any of the mainstream dystopian movie/book ones. So the Hunger Games fandom, and Divergent fandom. The books were ok, and then the fangirls blindly worship it as if it's the best thing since the microwave.

One of the best fandoms I'm in is the Percy Jackson fandom.

I think the worst fandom would be the Hunger Games/Divergent/The Fault in Our Stars. Yuck.

Worst: Justin Bieber fandom. Do I really need to explain?

Best: Supernatural fandom. I'm talking about actual, real fans. Not people who watch/pretend to watch it to be seen as 'cool' because it's very popular. I have yet to meet a real fan who is rude. Most of them are funny and entertaining. I don't watch this show btw, so I'm not biased.

Best: I don't really know, but I usually have nice conversations with people interested in games along the lines of Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy, or almost any nintendo game.
Worst:
1.The nasuverse fandom is pretty bad. Always arguing about stuff like the deen F/SN, Rin, how animes adapt the VN, and what's supposed to be canon.
2. Naruto, One Piece, or Bleach fans. I'm a pretty big fan of One Piece but the fanbase of these animes always look so bad by arguing with each other. Naruto sucks, Bleach is a god among anime, Itachi would easily fuck up Ichigo, Sasuke's a little bitch, etc.
3. Justin Bieber fans.

I'm not sure How J.B. fans are number 3. They attacked a charity event because one of the supporters criticized Justin Bieber.

Esperanza Spalding's Wikipedia page has been vandalized numerous times because she won an award JB didn't.

Sure, you're around Nasu people and big 3 people more often, but JB fans are just dirt low.

Some people go apeshit crazy just because a fandom like to criticize a show for not adapting the right material. God forbid people criticize a show for shitting on the source material.

Some FPS tend to attract the "younger" crowd, which is full of 12 year olds that curse like sailors. COD in general is just toxic.
