Aaang.

Id say Aaang would win in a fight too, his Avatar state looked way more powerful than hers anyway.

Aang because I've only watched like 5 episodes of Korra and ATLA is one of my favourite shows of all time. But that's just my completely biased opinion.

The better avatar, or the one I prefer?

I prefer Aang over Korra, but Korra might be a better avatar.

As much as I enjoyed the Legend of Korra, it just didn't feel like Avatar to me. Honestly, I wish that none of what occurred in that series was canon, but what can you do?

Korra accomplished quite a bit as the avatar. She stopped a rebellion from tearing a city apart, stopped a civil war between the Southern and Northern Water Tribes, Defeated the embodiment of all chaos/evil, leaving the spirit portals open which lead to the return of the Airbenders, Fought a group of anarchists while poisoned with mercury, and helped end a new Earth Empire's pursuit of conquest with a giant mech mounted with a super laser cannon. Oh yeah and opened up a new spirit portal. That is quite the resume in terms of Avatar accomplishments.

Aang accomplished stopping the fire nations advance on the northern water tribe, destroyed a giant drill, ending the 100 Year War, learning spirit bending, establishing Republic City, youngest Airbending master(not sure about this one).

All in all I'd say Korra is the more accomplished Avatar.

I watched Legend of Korra Book 1 before I watch Avatar the Last Airbender, and it was amazing.

What is "better" here? Who would win in a fight? Because that is not 100% fair, Korra is around 18 in the series and Aang around 12. Korra would probably beat Aang in that scenario because she is more physically developt and had more training as the avatar. BUT we don't know how strong Aang was at 18. We've only seen him when we was very young and in flashbacks when he was around 30.

"Better" in the sense of just being the avatar and doing avatar things (saving the world and stuff) it is hard to compare. Aang and Korra both had their weaknesses and that is what the journey is all about; overcoming your weaknesses. Aang always was in conflict with him being an air nomad; someone who was very passive and anti-violence, but also being the avatar; for maintaining peace you have to make hard dicisions (such as taking lives). Korra was the opposite; someone who has more of a aggresive and active approach, but we've seen that approach doesn't always work either. Like how she handled Amon; she tried to solve it fast by challenging him for a head on duel, but her ass got kicked because Amon is a very strategic fighter and abuses overconfidence from his enemies (that is how he won fights against most benders).

They both have their ways of handling things, and they aren't perfect. But we've seen that they also learn from their flaws.

I wouldn't say she is more accomplished since she actually caused the problems of Seasons 2-4 herself. So....

This.

My vote goes to Aang in a big way.
