For the past two or three days, whenever I try to watch stuff on the PS3 app, I have a number of problems.

The video randomly skips forward 10-20 seconds. It seems to do this at random, between five and twenty times per episode. When I try to rewind back to before the skip, a lot of the time the video won't play or freezes.

Sometimes playback will just freeze on its own.

Sometimes episodes won't even start playing to begin with.

When these problems happen, sometimes restarting the episode fixes it, but sometimes that doesn't even work, and I have to restart the app entirely.


None of these issues were happening before the DDOS a few days ago.

Yes, I'm having the same problems - basically unwatchable on PS3.
I also noticed that it's switching between different resolutions (subtitles change size and obvious change in quality).

I assume it's still side effects of the DDOS - is it still ongoing and just being mitigated in some way, or did network changes get made to prevent the DDOS that have unfortunate side effects on streaming?

I've had the same problem. I switched to google IP.didn't help.

Basically, I get resolution change, subtitle change, skipping time, skipping the entire episode (like 2 minutes in episode 2 and it will jump to episode 3), won't load up.

I get exactly the same problems you describe, but on my PS4. Has made any anime unwatchable.

Same problem here too. It was working just fine on my PS3 for the first few epsiodes and now it's completely stuck in the middle of an anime and then skips ahead to the next episode? The same episode works just fine on my laptop on the same wireless connection but i'd obviously rather watch it on the tv.

Hello, I am a premium user since 2012, for the main fact that I like supporting the anime industry, so that you may license more anime every season.
The problem I am having started after the Ddos attack, when Crunchyroll went back online. (I would like to point out that I am having no problems with the Crunchyroll on the computer.) The problem is that the Roku and PS3 app is having either a buffering problem or connection problem with the servers. Where when I wish to watch an anime series the episode starts, and plays between 2-5 minutes, then the episode will stop itself (I did not pause or stop the episode). After about 30 seconds, a gray screen pops-up with the attached message.
Roku The message says: Couldn't Play Video - Please check your connection/account and try again.
PS3 app will stop and say's video player error

I will also note that Funimation app and the Netflix app both work fine on the Roku AND PS3. Also like to mention that anime within the app, before Fall 2014 season, are experiencing the issues more. I haven't been able to watch a single episode without it stopping nearly a dozen times with the message popping up.
I have checked everything on my end, internet, etc. I have Comcast 95mbps, location Washington D.C./Maryland area, and everything works fine. I am not having any issues with anything outside of the Crunchyroll app on the Roku and PS3.
Any info will be helpful.

ps i sent a support ticket twice no reply any info on how the fix is coming??

I am having all the same kinds of issues as you folks too. I do hope gets fixed soon as I just started premium account and would like to take full advantage of it.

I would like to say that I too am having this issue, but not on every series. For example, I can't watch Sailor moon crystal at all, and Saki only plays a couple minutes. But Fairy Tail and Celestial method play fine. I tried switching the DNS stuff, but that only made it worse( as in everything stopped working instead of just some stuff). I switched it back so I can at least watch some stuff, but it's frustrating not being able to watch the ones I actually want to watch the most atm.

Unknown video player error here. On newest sailor moon and some new stuff. Older episode of one piece seem to be working fine. Please correct ASAP.

I'm having the exact same skipping and freezing issue as OP. The PS3 app is primarily where I do my anime watching so it's been quite frustrating.

(Console:PS4) Seriously what happened? I had no issues with anything until this past month when trying to watch a video now its freezes and drops quality to 480p or 360p and then 10-20 seconds later it freezes and goes back to max quality. I don't think that's because of my connection I've got 14.5-16 mbps (download). I normally watch crunchyroll vids on my laptop now and don't have a problem with them. Both are connected to Wifi and if I try to watch vids on the site(laptop) with the PS4 on I have no issues, but if I try to watch vids on the Ps4 with the laptop off I still have issues. Both devices are used in the same room. Had absolutely no issues with the app when I first got my Ps4 back on day 1.

Sadly, these are the many problems that happen when small companies go big while trying to support as many platforms as they can.
