BlueOni did have some good points.

But the scenario is that in the moment I'm about to put on the NerveGear, I find out it's a death game. I assume that means we have no knowledge of what will happen in the game, no knowledge of what will happen outside the game. So unless it's someone who has done a lot of medical research/training/is just plain super smart, I doubt anyone else take into consideration the care of their body while in the game. Or atrophied muscles. And probably doesn't consider how long they'll even be stuck in there. I know while watching the anime it didn't even occur to me to wonder what happened to their bodies until Kirito woke up, at which point it surprised me but it also made a lot of sense and I was happy they chose to be realistic. But would I have thought of that stuff on my own? No, I wouldn't have.

My choice would be to go in, especially if this was a few years ago. Why? Because I've always preferred living in my head than the real world, and I've wanted for years to live in a world where swordfighting was the norm. Because if I'm going to die young, I'd want it to be a worthwhile death, fighting for something. Especially in my high school years, I would've taken it as an alternative to suicide, doing my best to survive, but okay if I don't make it, and knowing I had a good chance of dying.

I think people are underestimating how much more dangerous the world of Aincrad could be if you take a combative role. Remember, nearly half the population (or was it 1/4th?) died.

Yes. I most certainly would. However, I would probably take a supporting role like an armoursmith rather than a front line roll.

Also to the above question, I believe it was about 3500 or so people died if memory serves.

Yes, even if I was to die early in that world it would be better than dying slowly in this one

Unless you already have less than a year to live, it would be massively stupid to put the gear on. The simplest thing is to wait a year and then you would get the same experience in the world without having to worry about dying early.

It's tempting but there is another world which I need to go to.

I disagree. I rather die by aging than by monsters.

Nah, I have friend and family in the real world. Not gonna run away.

One big difference is you are not the main character, you might get killed 5 minute in by a "player killer" and died a pointless death.

I doubt many people will have the balls to do this anyway, if they don't have the balls to face the real world, I doubt a virtual one will be much different.

Hell NO. Your bodies are still in the real world; you just add more burdens to the families. If you live alone, you are dead in 1 week without dying in a game.

Maybe not quite that fast, but dehydration does go pretty fast and is the most likely candidate.
