My first language is English, but I learned French because it's mandatory in the country I live in.

I start off with basic nouns, children's books and tv shows. I just take the same process I did as a child learning my native language. It's much more coherent and it just flows.

Already knew English (since that's the language everyone speaks in the US) and learned Spanish ever since I was super duper young cuz my parents would speak Spanish to me all the time. One time, I thought the word for rice was "arroz" since that's the spanish way of calling it so when I went to eat dinner at a friend's house and they had rice, I was like O.O ... whaatttt? Then when the food was finally served I said, "Ohhhh!!! You meant arroz!!!

Pilsner Japanese tapes (yes old fashioned tapes, dust off your old Walkman) and Rosetta stone. I can understand Japanese and read a bit but I'm sure I speak it with a thick English accent still.
