Let's face it...

We've all had those moments watching PV's or commercials and thinking "this show is going to be so amazing." And then 5 or 6 episodes in you keep wondering when the show is going to actually get interesting. Giving it a pass each week and living in denial that it'll actually be everything you had anticipated.

So I thought it might be a good idea to ask other watchers which series just didn't measure up to your expectations or which shows you just couldn't finish.

Here's my list: (these are just my opinions and others may differ)

1. K Project --> I REAAAAALLLLYYY tried to like this show. I mean it almost hurt how much I wanted it to be good. It just never arrived for me. The animation for the show was really nice and the characters were designed very well (I definitely appreciated all of the bishies lol). All in all it just fell flat and the plot was weak. Maybe the movie was better *shrugs*. I finished this series. Actually fell aslp for 2 episodes at the end and still didn't feel like I missed anything.

2. Sword Art Online season 1 --> This show had so much hype. And nearly EVERYONE loved it!! I felt a little strange when I myself just couldn't get into it. Maybe all the hype is what turned me off. Well that and how the show kinda gravitated more towards being a harem than the action-packed drama I had been seeking. The show and I just lost touch at around 14 episodes.

3. One Piece, Bleach, Fairy Tail --> Ok. I know this is 3 shows. I apologize. I have taken turns with each of these behemoths trying my best to make a dent or some form of progress. I have yet to make any meaningful progress. There are so many characters and names in Bleach that I just don't know wth is going on. With these shows having so many episodes, the story tends to build more slowly and characters have hundreds of episodes to grow. I just don't have the time to invest in these. Not saying that any of them are bad. I have however kept up with Naruto and even finished the manga in November.

4. Samurai Flamenco --> This was one of those shows that I thought might be pretty cute with a hint of humor. Ok. I got that. However, after ~12 episodes things started getting...weird. I'm pretty sure I stopped watching when

5. Togainu no Chi --> I like Nitro+CHIRAL games...a lot lol. But when I saw this adaptation of N+C's first VN I was not impressed. That animation though....hahaha. Just don't feel like this one was really developed at all. In their defense I suppose they did have to leave A LOT of the games...well...attributes...??? haha. But what can I say...packing hours of gameplay in to 20 minute episodes is no small feat. So they tried. Guess I won't be seeing Sweet Pool the animation anytime soon...jk. OMG could you imagine haha

This list does not encompass all of the anime I had high hopes for that didn't blow me away and mostly just looks at the shows I tried but just couldn't reach the finish line.

IT'S YOUR TURN NOW!!

I always try to dislike anime for somewhat valid reasons.

Samurai Flamenco however is just rampant hate, I dislike every single thing about that show with the intensity of a thousand burning stars going supernova and I completely watched it from start to end.

That said, I sit through most anime I hate and try to watch the later seasons of them as well, I avoided Space Dandy season 2 like the plague however.

I'll probably get some flack for this but here goes...

k-on;

Code geass, i made it to episode 5, i have tryed to watch it multiple times and just find myself getting incredibly bored.

im a fairly easy guy to please i try and watch things with a moderately open mind, but these two animes just couldn't keep me interested. i wanted to watch CG because soooo many people rate it as being such an amazeing show but i guess i just wasnt feeling it. k-on is something i hyped myself up for and what probably ruined it for me is i made it out to be something it wasnt in my own mind.

I avoided K-on initially b/c I just didn't think it was my type of show. Same for Code Geass. I just didn't feel like investing the energy to try to make myself like these lol.

AnoHana was a show that I tried to see why everyone was so crazy over it. When I watched the show and got to the last episode I was just like "is this the part that everyone was crying at???" I felt a little soulless b/c I just felt kinda "Meh" the whole time.

Trigun. There are a couple others like Steins;Gate or Clannad but Trigun is most definitely the big one, seeing how I actually wanted to like Trigun. Maybe it's just because I didn't grow up with it, maybe it's because I had already watched loads of Anime back when I first started Trigun, but I just could not enjoy it, no matter how hard I tried. And it's not just the art, which most definitely doesn't hold up at all, but mostly the characters and story, which didn't manage to suck me in or to entertain for me even a solid minute of screen time. I found the characters to be flat and annoying, sure they had their quirks, but either not enough so to be interesting or their quirks were played up to the extent of them just being obnoxious. The story structure is very episodic, making the show depend more on the characters to get you invested. Which, as I said, was a problem for me and lead to me being bored almost all of the time. I watched Trigun until episode 14, at what point I just entirely gave up. I get why people like it, but I just couldn't, sorry. And I know, as many have told me, the show apparently has a really good climax, but I think giving it 14 shots and not getting any enjoyment out of it is more than enough. I do not intend to complete Trigun, since 12 episodes is actually quite a lot and I could be watching something I actually enjoy during the same time frame.

I'm going to probably get a lot of hate for this but

Black Lagoon. I tried, I really tried, I got to like episode 16 and thought "I'm...not enjoying any of this, why am I watching this?"

Full Metal Panic - Something similar to Black Lagoon happened.

Evangelion - I watched the whole thing and...I'm just not a mech person I guess...except for Eureka 7's first season.

Ahhh Brave 10. Yea. I watched all 10 of those. It's hard for such a short series to be very good when they add a new character EVERY episode :-/

I'm not very picky when it comes to anime. I usually like most anime I watch, but Glasslip I hated and for some reason I watched it start to finish. The most interesting character was Jonathan the chicken.

Add me to the list of One piece and Bleach, I just don't get the appeal. With Fairy Tale it has more to with feeling daunted by having to watch 140+ more episodes of it(I've watched the first 30).

I have few that just ended up disliking No game no life, stoped after 6 episodes, fate/stay night unlimited blade works was just not that great at all, most harem shows don't hold my interests for long with a few exceptions, Clanad was a bit annoying and slow to my taste, Hunterx something I cant remember the whole title was just too juvenile I think it was for a young audience I tried it because it was so highly regarded but just couldn't watch more than 3 or 4 episodes, U lie in april just couldn't see the appeal of some characters I lost interest quick, Golden time couldn't stand at all that female mc was just so annoying, SAO I droped after the 2nd arc and there more but cant remember now

I haven't even gotten that far with it yet. Looking at the cover, and reading the basic description I thought it would be like a Cowboy Bebop, but it's just so mean spirited and excessively violent that I found it stressful... especially the two episodes about the nazis, I just couldn't take anymore after that and sort of gave up. Sounds like it doesn't get much better, then...

I'm having the same problem with Michiko&Hachin, for all the same reasons- although there's some slightly better acting and much prettier scenery.
I spent no small amount of money on it, and it sits on my shelf about half finished and I've never taken it up again because it's just too violent and depressing.

Cowboy Bebop. And Trigun. And Bleach after a couple of seasons. Stopped watching it. It was good at first.

Also, I'm following Naruto, but I have hated it since all the damn resurrection shit started. I don't know why I still watch it.
