Would be nice if the massive amount of disinformation about the topic being spread by both sides could be dispelled first. There's money in it regardless, and that always leads to problems with stuff like this.

I'm assuming this is referring to "man made" global warming and "climate change" (which has been debated to both exist and not by respected, peer reviewed and published scientists, can they please just stop changing the buzzword?) Personally, I'm more for clean air while I wait for proper information to come out about the topic. More advanced, alternative fuel technology would be a nice thing to have, but that said, the progress is sluggish mainly because many proposed alternative fuels aren't as effective as one would hope. There's also the fact that manufacture of and the disposal of hybrid battery packs has been correlated to make hybrids have similar environmental impacts to that of fuel vehicles over the long term, if not worse, depending how far you drive a hybrid during it's lifetime.

We're going to have to high tail our research efforts into finding truly viable alternative fuels that can be applied everywhere, from industry, to transportation, to general civil engineering and power production, and to even space travel (long term survival of the species will require leaving this rock, after all.)

Though first off, a check in the growth of global population will likely be a requirement.

Edit: Factual correction on a statement, found one of my old notes.

I wonder about the tears in children's eyes
And I wonder about the soldier that dies
I wonder will this hatred ever end
I wonder and worry my friend
I wonder I wonder wonder don't you?

Global warming is a problem which can only be solved if the world works together. It effects all, and is caused by all, therefore all should try to fix it.

Not only by grassroots (doing what you can as individual human being and within your community, where-ever you are),
But also by world politics.
Both, are generally not considered enough.

So, take action. Everything ells is cheaptalk.

Well first of all let's kill this whole idea that everyone's "opinions" hold relevance. This is a scientific issue, meaning there are numerous studies and research that has been put into it over the last several decades. Another thing that has been bugging me reading a lot of posts, you people clearly don't understand the difference between climate and weather. If it is below 10 years...it is not climate, its weather. Climatologists prefer to study patterns over a decade long when they reference their data.

Secondly, I haven't seen anyone post reasons to their arguments....are we in church? Evidence means everything, if you just spout your opinion what contribution are you giving to an intellectual discussion?

I will spare a long post and simply post a meta analysis that I reference a lot when talking to the average citizen (meaning you know jack shit about science or climatology in general). For those who don't know what a meta analysis is - it is a compilation of studies that are comprised together to collect a more unified results; most meta analysis studies are several thousand studies compiled into one singular opinion on a topic. We use a meta analysis to show the overall evidence for something; however, depending on the studies used in the analysis, there are limitations to accuracy.

Here is the link, with the abstract of the study posted below.http://iopscience.iop.org/1748-9326/8/2/024024/article

"We analyze the evolution of the scientific consensus on anthropogenic global warming (AGW) in the peer-reviewed scientific literature, examining 11 944 climate abstracts from 1991–2011 matching the topics 'global climate change' or 'global warming'. We find that 66.4% of abstracts expressed no position on AGW, 32.6% endorsed AGW, 0.7% rejected AGW and 0.3% were uncertain about the cause of global warming. Among abstracts expressing a position on AGW, 97.1% endorsed the consensus position that humans are causing global warming. In a second phase of this study, we invited authors to rate their own papers. Compared to abstract ratings, a smaller percentage of self-rated papers expressed no position on AGW (35.5%). Among self-rated papers expressing a position on AGW, 97.2% endorsed the consensus. For both abstract ratings and authors' self-ratings, the percentage of endorsements among papers expressing a position on AGW marginally increased over time. Our analysis indicates that the number of papers rejecting the consensus on AGW is a vanishingly small proportion of the published research."

Lol, in that case you deny it, talk about elsewhere/ on a different scale...force them to abandon their comfort zone until they find themselves caught up talking in terms of probabilities. Once you have the upper hand because soon enough you can shut them up *shrug*

Too much work if you ask me.

What I think doesnt matter. Maybe if I do something, that might matter.

it's real, and to combat [enhanced] global warming, we need to...:

- become less reliant on fossil fuel and oil
- use renewable energy such as solar power or biofuel
- start inventing technology that can use renewable energies (instead of inventing flying cars -__- )
- recycle paper, trees absorb CO2, so getting rid of trees = fewer things that get rid of increased CO2 in the atmosphere

society and humans should be doing the above things anyway... regardless if climate change is real or not. :-/

Don't just believe what Al Gore tells you guys. That program that brainwashed kids into believing global warming at all our schools? His program.

We finally got rain in California! YAY! But don't waste water please even still.

I believe in global warming and will do my part so it eases on my conscious, but it will be a miracle to change the entirety of the human race as a whole.

Apparently people believe that territory expansion is more important currently... and is thus hindering ecological progress.

So much baloney in the world and I hate baloney.

Try living in Beijing where you need a respirator to jog! I think we have done a pretty good job in the U.S. of cleaning up the environment. Climate has been changing for a really long time and global warming isn't a bad thing (Canada would LOVE it!). I read an interesting book awhile back: "Unstoppable Global Warming ...Every 1,500 Years". Climate cycles between warmer and colder naturally - the extent to which man contributes is up for debate. Wind and solar contribute very little and amount to little more than a pipe dream, its time to stop wasting taxpayer dollars. Fossil fuels are not going away anytime soon; emerging technologies have done and will continue to benefit the environment ...if the governmental commissars can stop prematurely regulating existing technologies. Some green technology is great (hydropower in the Northwest where I live), but a lot of it is a scam (solar) ...there is no reason green technology can't be both profitable and beneficial. We need to stop freaking out - ISIS is more of a threat than climate change will ever be (short of the apocalypse).

its a scam in order to tax people/countries so that supranational entities will keep living the good life while making the life miserable for the average person and making happy only the tree huggers

btw, there are was a huge scandal internationally in 2013-14 of some scientists cooking up the numbers in favor of the scam and not too long ago i read on a paper that scientists would "speed up" the data

china is crap because they have no quality control and adequate environmental protections to control this issue is severely lacking
