Hello fellow Crunchyrollers ! (Happy New Year BTW)
As a foreign exchange students currently studying in the US from Korea,
I got to observe, befriend, and even date people of many ethnicities here
Learning English, teaching Korean, and even learning Japanese was through all those great people!
Though at first I couldn't see all cultures residing here, over time, I was able
to draw up some differences in "subgroups" of similar ethnicities (Asians to be specific).
See I'm what you call a "fob" here (though at first I assumed that label to be derogatory) and I
saw that there were two different types of "asians" in America, or how people label them.

"Are you Asian-American, or fob?"

I'm sure for those living in diverse nations as the US, you would know the different attitudes and
cultures that these two hold, but I'm going to be specific here:

Though I'm a "fob", it seems like at least to me, "fob" girls perhaps refuse to assimilate to the
culture here and uphold their own. By that I mean their ways of dating or even their types.
They are generally really shy, conservative, and for some reason always refuses to speak
English even if I know them to be fluent.
Fob girls (korean and japanese from my experience) in asian countries generally consists of
three traits that distinguish their "dating ideals"

1. Guy must look like a kpop star
2. He must have lots of money, or at least a good amount
3. He must attend a prestigious school.

Now I know those are stereotypes, but generally from what I've experienced, they seem to hold true.
On the other side, I attend university so I've met many Asian-Americans who for the most part, look
rather simpler than fobs as far as their "dating ideals" go. For some reason, Asian-American girls here
are either "ratchet" meaning they get drunk with frat guys every friday nights and hang out with all
Americans, or they are people labeled "weird" on campus (weird as in being really reserved and watches
anime or drama at home).

In Korea, things were really more different. I think that I've assimilated to the culture here in US, but
as far as dating goes, I found it to be a little difficult because of the differences. I don't even think I hold
these "fob ideals" at all, but for the most part, many of the people I met are difficult to interact with.

So, my question to you all:
What are your experiences like, dating an Asian partner?? (Both guy/girl).
I'd love to read about yours ^^ Thanks guys!

I am currently dating a Japanese woman. She has been living here in Canada for 3 years. She is pretty shy and reserved and doesn't like public intimacy. She likes to talk a lot about herself and what it was like in Japan and she asks me a lot of questions about myself, Canada and Canadians. She really cares about my well-being which is different from most other women I have dated here. Many of the women who grew up here are party animals and while that is fun and all, dating in North America has turned from 'getting to know one another' into 'when can we have sex?'

I enjoy the change of pace I am experiencing from dating this person. I feel like I know more about her in the few months we have been dating than the two years I spent with my previous girlfriend.

Dunno but recent studies of dating inline have made it clear, If your asian and female, the world's your oyster. If your asian and male, you're kinda fucked as far as preferences go.

As for experience dating an asian, I have none... Actually, I have little experience dating period. Also I don't know many asian women around me. O.o

I have some crushes on some Asian girls at my high school, but I was really unlucky. It didn't bother me that much, and there are many girls in the world that I can try to find. I don't have to worry. I'll never give up on true love.

Those are some bold words. I like bold words. Specifically bold words

But anyway, how does a Phersu copulate?

Dating an asian woman is the final level in the game of life. The ultimate cheat code to instant victory. Dating an asian male gives you points for being "diverse" at best.

it truly is a struggle, I love Asian men, but they don't like me (think it's because I have dark skin tone).

sometimes wish love at first sight exists for ugly people like me.

My girlfriend is Chinese. We met by chance in high school. I had no idea what it was like to date a person with a different first language than me, with a completely different upbringing. Yet, as we slowly have learned over the four years we've been together through high school and college, we have so many similarities. I have spent these past few years learning mandarin and learning about her culture, while I have shared her those bits of America that still speak to its (albeit brief) romantic past.

We are at an interesting point of human history. So many cultures can communicate with one another. To me, it's beautiful to be able to share all that we have learned over the ages since humanity diverged into the groups which later became kingdoms and empires and nations. It has humbled both my girlfriend and I's interpretation of patriotism and enlightened our minds to a broader human perspective.

Perhaps I am biased. I know only one relationship, and that is with her. I remember who I was before, and who I am now. And I see how much I have grown intellectually and romantically as a result of this. I don't think one needs an interracial relationship to understand and partake in this journey of broadening one's narrative. But, romance is, in some sense, the only way to really let your heart be taken into the hands of another. And if it is with someone of such a different reality from your own, you will experience tremendous emotional experiences. It has questioned how I define love, and how one communicates that, for in the beginning of our relationship, communication was not as fluid as with others from a more local background as mine.

My experiences in this area are dating Korean women. Very shy in public, but much more open in private (and somewhat aggressive in public in terms of pursuit of a guy). Most the time they were anxious to move the relationship too fast (not sex, but the future in terms of marriage and stuff)

At the time of these experiences, I was in the Army stationed in Seoul (Yongsan Garrison)

So I'm not sure where my answer would be of much help to you

Asexually. Think slimes. I build up mass and then split into two. Then we fight to the death.
