1.Do you tell your friends you like BL?
Why or why not?
I do tell my friends I like BL because its very common to tell someone your interests in what you like.
2. Would you ever consider telling others about your interests?
Why or why not?
If your friend were interested in the genre, what would you recommend to them?
I already do. Knowing someone's interest is another way of getting to know varities of things about one person. Not just name, birthday and a simple like/dislike, but more understanding can get someone to know more about a person.
Well, I don't usually share/recommend BL anime, since we have different taste in the story line or artwork. I would definitely recommend Sekaichii Hatsukoi and Junjou Romantica
3.Why do you think the interest in BL/Yaoi is so looked down upon in our society?
Uhh, what society? In my society, we appreciate gays/lesbians/bisexual, whether its in anime or real life or drama. We don't discriminate, I don't really know which society that is. But for us, or anyone in my town, don't really discriminate on these; considering, we're a very big fan of anime. But I guess its because its "cartoon" and its just "two hot cartoon guys making out" and that its not "real". and that its just a fantasy girls or gay guys make.
4.Lastly,
What are your fave BL/Yaoi manga/anime?
I don't really have a favorite, but I guess: "Junjou Romantica", "Sekaichii Hatsukoi", "Last Stage", . . .

My little sister can be such a hypocrite sometiimes lol. She probably see me as this bumbling big brother ( which i am ) who is obessed with all kind of weird fetish like lolicons, and others. Then one day i walk on her reading a Yaoi BL story online. She was so embarassed and come up with excuses.

1.Do you tell your friends you like BL? no, but i have been asked before and i have said yes because at the time they were talking about a classmate (same year) as us and they seemed to have some questions regarding BL. I don't remember what they asked but I remembered that I somewhat respected that friend because she was so open about BL/yaoi. I'm more the closet type, though there is one person (male) who's very accepting and I fangirl to that person alot I feel quite fortunate to have that person as a friend
Why or why not?
probably mostly because I'm sensitive or have self confidence issues (whatever you want to call it) and when you tell someone you're into BL, there's a chance they would spread it or talk behind your back

2. Would you ever consider telling others about your interests? interests? probably all my friends know I love anime and manga (not all). On the other hand, it would depend on the person whether I tell them I'm into BL.
Why or why not?
I don't think I would tell someone who isn't a friend something so personal
If your friend were interested in the genre, what would you recommend to them?
smooth their introduction with lots of seriously sweet Shounen Aiiiii

3.Why do you think the interest in BL/Yaoi is so looked down upon in our society?
Dunno. shounen ai is just romance and yaoi just seems like porn for the ladies. Seems totally normal to me. Either people aren't used to the idea or it could be that they think acceptance of gays is being spread to the youth. It could just be more to do with the issue of homophobia or non acceptance of gays but really, as the argument with that goes, we aren't hurting anyone, we aren't trying to hurt anyone and it's not any worse than normal porn. Also, regardless of something being BL or not, rape is wrong and my only concern is that a few select BL stories might be sending the message that it's okay. If the aim was to inform that the issue of rape also occurs with gays, then the story should also show how serious and wrong non consensual sex is.

Lastly,
What are your fave BL/Yaoi manga/anime?
most of my favs are shounen ai. Such sweetness, such fluffiness. Off the top of my head:
Shounen Ai
- Kanemochi-kun to Binbou-kun
- Silver Diamond
- G defend

Yaoi
- Himegoto Asobi
- Usagi Otoko Tora Otoko

I think my favourite would have to be Blue Nathanael. It's a one shot, could be shounen ai, not fluffy and quite serious.

Yeah I'm pretty open about it all. To the average person I'm like "Yeah I like some romance animes like Ao Haru Ride and Sekai Ichi..." because at the end of the day if it has a good story I don't really care who loves who. Tabuu romances often make for more engaging stories anyway as the viewer has added sympathy for the couple. Generally if you're able to talk about it in a mature manner then the people you're talking to shouldn't be so put off. I wouldn't recommend BL to everyone though, as I appreciate not everyone's open-minded enough to be unphased by watching two guys in love with each other.

Talking to friends though, I fanguy (fanguy? wtf) a lot - we secretly plot against those dirty RinHaru shippers (loljk I love you all).

And even though I'm a guy, I much prefer yaoi to bara. I like my ships to be cute and adorable and stuff. Haters gonna hate.

I post my "days until Love Stage is out" picture countdown on Instagram. So I guess I'm very opened with BL manga.

But. A manga with a incest based romance (no matter which genders). THAT is something not even the writer him/her-self would ever be told. It's hidden in the depths of my closet.

Not really! I mean if someone asks and genuinely curious then sure.
And to be completely honest Love Stage is like the only BL i really enjoyed.
But i'm always up for a good story with romance that isn't centered on a heterosexual relationship so there.

I'm more of a yuri fan, but have read and liked some BL that I found online.

There's only two people who would be interested are my two anime friends and they know, I didn't care if they know.

My one friend thought it was a bit strange and kinda made jokes about it like "oh that's weird" but that's how she is. She isn't very open minded with the whole same sex thing, so it wasn't really a shocking response coming from her.

My other friend is a more open minded when it comes to that and she really didn't have any sort of dramatic response. Maybe surprised it was coming from me, lol, but she is OK with that sort of thing.

Everyone else that I know may find anime in itself weird, so I don't even bother with them and this topic.

Not really into it and not against it though I have known some people (mainly girls) who are.
However slightly off topic I would prefer girl or boy love stories instead of the new trend of making every character bi-sexual because of why not?

I don't really read BL mangas, I prefer the BL doujinshi because it's fun to pair up characters that I like. I think my friends wouldn't mind if I tell them I read BL. If it were a stranger or somebody I barely know I would feel uncomfortable to talk about that.

I am a true fan of all things anime, manga, and light novel. I tell people all the time that I like BL series, mostly when im talking about those series. I wouldn't recommend any series without knowing the person.

Eh I love it but I wouldn't tell just anyone, my friends know about it though. My parents are more religious and absolutely hate homosexuals so if they ever seen the stuff I have on my computer or the things I have written, I shudder to think how fast I'd get my ass booted out of the house.

1.Do you tell your friends you like BL?
Most of my friends are gay as all hell, so I have no reason not to. Mostly we get into really loud rants in public about the lack of Queer relationships in Western Media and how we have turned to Fanfiction and Manga to get some representation.

2. Would you ever consider telling others about your interests?
See above. Most don't get a choice... (What's that quote from Aoharuxmachinegun? "It's a magical friendship item"

3.Why do you think the interest in BL/Yaoi is so looked down upon in our society?
Combo of queerness and a general stigma against masturbation, especially among women. It is threatening to our society which considers masculinity a marker of value that women can find multiple masculine archetypes attractive.
I mean also as a woman who is gay as all hell, it should be noted that this is really complicated, but if anyone knows any Yuri that are drawn in ways that actually convey emotion, and aren't totally creepy, then please recommend!

What are your fave BL/Yaoi manga/anime?
Definitely No.6.
Loosely defined DenYuuDen

but I'm a shipper so practically everything has romantic subplot... No one can convince me that Durarara isn't hella gay for example.
