Provided you aren't sharing that bandwidth with any other persons or devices, and that speed is stable, you shouldn't have any problem with 1080p. A source I found listed CR's data rate for 1080p streams at just a bit above 3 Mbps.

It sounds like you are on DSL. If so, your speed should be stable. I had AT&T DSL for about a decade, and one of the good things about it was the speed was very stable. If you are on cable, however, your speed can vary significantly.

5 mins will justo give you whatever speed the the server and your connection will push for buffering ....

i did a 20min test and it looks like the size is about 520MB so we divide that by 20 to get MB/m then divide by 60 to get
MB/s (.44) then to get it into connection speed multiply by 8 ... giving us about 3.5-megabits per second ..... anything
over that should work fine... anything under will have to pause for buffering to catch up

keep in mind that streaming 1080p is good only if you have a 1080p tv/monitor xD my internet speed reaches about 14mbs and stream 1080p fine but can't really tell any difference on my 720p monitor so just opt to go with 720p i shake my head and face palm at my friend who streams 1080p on his 2003 crt monitor...
