Just incredible. And when you consider that each and every dot in this likely has planets surrounding it, I just... arghh. My poor brain.

I don't imagine we'll find out anytime soon.

What is harder to me to comprehend is the possibility that there is more than one universe.

There are actually lots of tremendously complex systems with very humble beginnings. There's a whole field of physics and mathematics devoted to just analysing the properties of complex systems and the chaotic behaviour of some of them.

James Gleick has a popular science book called "Chaos: Making a New Science" which is fun reading if you enjoy chaotic systems

'Two possibilities exist: either we are alone in the Universe or we are not. Both are equally terrifying.'

It is terrifying to know that there is a Creator watching and judging us. It is also terrifying to know that we are all alone in the universe...who or what controls what happens outside?

I hope there is someone in the Andromeda Galaxy looking at a 1.5 billion megapixel photo of our Milky Way.

I wonder how many of those stars are already dead since it takes the light from the Andromeda Galaxy 2.5 million years to reach us.
