Those are people living in France who are Muslim, tweets translate to 'well done', 'they deserved it' etc. People like this should deported immediately.

The Islam's biggest issue is that it considers the Koran as something that is god-given and therefore without fail, while in Christianity the Bible is a collection of people's experiences with god, written down by men. That is one of the many reasons why Luther thought reforming the Bible isn't much of a big deal (history and the pope proved him wrong though...). Times had changed drastically since the new testament was written and in his eyes it was time for some changes.
A reformed version of the Koran however is something unimaginable because of this one difference and being stuck with politics and values based on this really, really old book is what keeps countries in the middle east back and gives entrance to fundamentalist organisations. Again, you can say the same things about every religion if you take the things a mere book tells you too literal.

In general I couldn't care less what someone I get along with believes in and as always it's just a small minority that makes all Muslims look bad. Doesn't make it less sad, though.

In developed countries, civil government dictates the law and society promotes the morals. But there are places in this world, where these laws and morals hold not even an ounce of value and in such places, only religion has kept the people acting civilized... So someone living in highly developed country may not realize it but religion has huge positive impact in society...

uh... maybe in the Stone Age.

But if we're talking about modern times... it has done more bad than good... starting from the Dark Ages.

As others have pointed out it isn't all muslims who behave and act or think the way the extremists do. Even though it probably isn't meant to look that way I kind of have to cringe every time I see someone post something that makes them look like one big group that is in complete agreement about what goes on all over.

This is very true about their holy book. Because of the way they view it I don't see it changing any time soon. One article said that to the muslims burning the Qur'an is like burning Jesus or their very soul. They don't even touch it without washing their hands, face and feet and never place it on the ground or have another book placed higher than it. Their reverence for it doesn't only extend to the Qur'an though. They are taught that every religions holy book needs to be respected. It's one reason why you don't really ever hear about them burning a bible. I only know of one time in recent history where a bible was burned by a muslim yet people here in America burn their book without a second thought.

I'm tired and I think I got way off track there. In the end, yes, we have free speech but if you go up to some random guy and start yelling offensive crap at him you are going to have to deal with the consequences. It's just a respect thing. To mess with their religion is such a disrespectful thing to them that it is hard for any of them to not feel some anger over it and obviously the extremists will react strongly.

Heres the thing, the world muslim population is 2 billion people spread across many countries and cultures. I find it funny how when governments with tanks commit atrocities its not terrorism, but when its a bunch of misfits blowing $hit up, the world responds. I'm a very calm person, but I'm starting to get a little fed up with the all out discrimination. My lineage has been in the United States since slavery and my parents converted to Islam. Up until 9/11, most muslims I've known were well respected by the general public. It has now gotten to the point where people are automatically suspect or questions because of their religion. The funny thing is Christianity, Judaism and Islam have an 70-80 percent(at least) overlap in ideas. The thing is whenever someone of any other religion does something crazy, they are just considered "crazy". When a muslim does something "crazy", they are a "terrorist". Im not saying all muslims are peaceful, but neither is the entire population of the world. I know its not the same, but the media barrage on blacks feels very similar. I think racism is worse, because it criticizes someone for something they are born with that shouldn't affect anything. I live in NY and with this whole NYPD thing, all I am hearing from people are how blacks need to do better, be more law abiding,etc....I am also black, with everything I hear this is my stance.

You're talking about a bunch of other issues that has nothing to do with this. You don't see Jews, Christians, or any other religion doing such sick atrocities in towns. Like here in the UK that Soldier was stabbed in broad daylight. Go find me a post where someone of some other religion stabbed or gunned down people because someone 'opposed' their faith, these morons are terrorists.

Been watching the news since I saw this on CNN, unfortunately Religion is a massive and important thing to the Middle Eastern! They don't take things slightly, but again maybe it's just an excuse to make their Attack. These people obviously had help, and are now running freely around in Paris. hope that they are found before anymore innocent people are killed. And yes I say innocent, they have the freedom of speech to do those cartoons.

Dr. George Tiller was gunned down by a Christian extremist because Tiller went against his beliefs on abortion.

Dr. John Britton was killed by a Christian man claiming he was doing God's work by killing him because he performed abortions.

Eric Rudolph bombed people in Olympic Park during the summer olympics, bombed an abortion clinic and bombed a lesbian bar.

The Army of God is a prime example of Christian terrorists.

Adding more to it....

Guy Fawkes who famously tried to blow up the House of Lords was a Catholic terrorist. That whole incident was because of the persecution Catholics faced.

Then there is the "Fighting Christian Front" who attack mosques.

"Bat Ayin Underground" was a Jewish terrorist group.

Yaakov Teitel, a Jew, killed a Palestinian taxi driver. Then he sent booby trapped packages to the home of a Messianic Jewish family.

Baruch Goldstein killed 29 Muslims inside the Ibrahimi Mosque and wounded 125 others.

I don't think I really need to keep going. These types of attacks by other religions just don't get as much attention as the others do because people prefer it that way. Muslims are just an easier target right now with things the way they are.

Its not a religion that does a stabbing its a person, thousands are murdered every year, but you will only hear about their religion if they are Muslim. When that guy killed all those people at the Batman premiere do you think anyone was concerned about his religion? No all the said was that guys "bats##t crazy". Also people think something is only a crime if committed by a civilian. Look up how many war atrocities are done by nations with no consequences.

This is what happens when religion is taken both too literally and seriously.
