Just curious if anyone on CR draws their own manga. If so, do you draw your own stories, just individual images or both? When did you start drawing manga? Is it something you have been doing your whole life or was there a distinct point in which you started?

I drew a lot of crazy, high octane fighting DBZ inspired comics in High School that I still have many years later. I've calmed down and settled on more simple, slice of life, comedy manga, inspired by Usagi Drop (1st half, not 2nd half...).
I've never completed any of them though. I start a lot but never finish.

I draw individual images since drawing panels is a weak point for me.

Nope. I suck at it. I only draw manga-style every now and then but it doesn't go passed a quick sketch.

I draw manga, it looks similar to the anime Free!'s style (I drew like that before I knew about Free!, i'm not a copy cat ). But I almost never show anyone my drawings. Especially online. People can steal your art . I ask for permission before I save a photo. I hate it when I can't find the person who drew the manga.

i used to do that in high school, then stopped when i got into college because of the workload. i loved the process of laying out panels. i have a story on top of my head right now plus character designs but the story would involve a LOT of research so it's a no-go. i'm satisfied drawing individual images, that'll do at the moment.

I draw manga style characters, but not my own stories. Panels and backgrounds are too much for me.

I wish I could, but I'm terrible at drawing. I can think up stories but drawing them is a bit too much.

Wonder if we could possibly start a doujin circle through CR, it would be great if I could find someone who wants to draw my ideas...

Manga is all over my work/notes just as doodles.
Sometimes I draw in-depth portraits of characters but I've never taken it far to panels or a story.

Anybody can recommend a good introduction book? I didn't take any drawing classes in high school so I'm completely amateur.

Preferably from Amazon.

Interesting. Freestyle Free!-style. So does that mean they could also be in Kuroko's basketball?

I don't really look at books but this is a nice book:

It's kinda Western style and the chibis are kinda fat but it's pretty good. This came out in Oct 2013. I think the easiest way to learn is from youtube/deviant art and then just kinda build up your own style. That is what i think at least im bad at drawing so i dont know if that is really the best way but idk its probably a matter of preference

Have you concidered writing it like a book, using the potrait-like drawings as chapter changers? That way you can do it without having to do panels.
