In the spirit of Chris Rock's great movie on top 5 rappers. I thought it was interesting to look into the top 5 greatest animes.

#mytop5anime
"Dragon Ball Z"
"One Piece"
"FMA"
"Cowboy Bebop"
"Death Note"

My list is just tv shows. I think every list should have Dragon Ball Z, just because it sort of gave birth to the anime era we live in now.

btw my favorite anime/manga is "One Piece"

I know it's impossible to really rate them, since there are great animes in different genres. Like you can't compare FLCL and Trigun, it's impossible.

But with that said, what's yours?

Sometime I wonder if: dbz, cowboy, deathnote, fma or op were omitted from choice selections if the forums would be a desolate place.

Well without those I don't think you could take the anime industry seriously. They sort of define a lot of current anime. For example, there's no One Piece without Dragon Ball Z.

You want me to only choose five? It's like choosing children...but if I must,

In no order:

1. Cowboy Bebop
2. Neon Genesis Evangelion
3. Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann
4. Kuroko's Basketball
5. Madoka Magica

I only consider a show amazing if it made me feel something, either physically or emotionally. These are the five that did that the most for me.

Honorable mentions: Soul Eater, Hellsing: Ultimate, Clannad, Kimi ni Todoke, and Say "I Love You"

Great choices... other than Baccano. In my personal opinion I feel as though it was sub par despite its attempt at being unique. The anime just didn't click with me. Other than that I do like your picks.

Thanks, I almost put Higurashi up there because I LOVE that anime. Honestly, I hated Baccano until about halfway through, but I was distracted with quite a few other anime at the time I was watching it. After completing it I rewatched it with a friend, and liked it a lot better the second time through. I mainly enjoyed the characters!

I see, then perhaps that was also my problem, with that said I shall now go and re-watch it when I find some time! The characters I admit were something else lol.
