Hopefully TBS will realize that they are missing out on a huge audience some day - at least they are doing some simulcasting, so that's a start.

I see Fafner Exodus in this announcement and Unlimited Fafnir in a previous one. Since I'm not familiar with much before they actually show up here to watch, can someone answer a few questions?

1. Are these shows related or part of the same series? Part of the names are similar -- Fafner and Fafnir.
2. Are either or both sequels / season 2+?
3. If yes to 2, is there a continuous story line? Or will these newer shows stand alone fine without having seen earlier ones?

In general I don't like to watch later seasons without having seen earlier ones, so some clarification here would be helpful. Thanks!

No. Fafner is Fafner.

Two different companies as well, with Fafner being one of Xebec's original properties.

Completely different. Fafnir is one of those light novel adaptions.

I wasn't planning on seeing Gourmet Girl, but Asuka Ogame is in it? I'll watch it just because of her!

Fafner exodus is a sequel, since it's set two years after the previous 26 episode anime. No clue what the other Fafnir is that your talking about.

FafnEr is a mech show, FafnIr is a harem. Pretty big difference.

(Also, Fafner with an E is a sequel to a 2004 show, Fafnir with a I seems to be stand-alone)

CR announced back in mid-November that they would have it:
http://www.crunchyroll.com/forumtopic-876089/durarara-2-coming-january-2015

All we've been waiting on since then is the where (regions) and when (simulcast date and time).

As mentioned, the two shows aren't related to each other.

Fafner; Exodus, however, is a sequel. Funimation has the original series and a movie that came after. As I understand it, there is a sizeable time skip between the original series and this one (and apparently even since the movie).
