I recently found out (because of Seto No Hanayome, the last few chapters in the manga) that there is a Chinese legend that says that Koi that manage to swim up a waterfall become dragons. I think that is what Magikarp and Gyarados are based off of.

Maan, they should make a spinoff based on team rocket or something.

My god its been like 17 years and they STILL haven't nerfed it. Will they stand idly by as Magikarp lays waste to all that stands before it's merciless splashes??

The Pokemon series needs to have Ash. I would find it boring if he wasn`t the main character. Also, people gotta stop treating Pokemon like it is a harem. Ash has friends that are girls. That doesn`t mean he needs to get with each one. That`s what fan fictions are for. Go read them if that is what you want.

Like DBZ without Goku or Sailor Moon without Sailor Moon.

It wouldn't matter if Ash is in it or not. Same things would happen. Ash is what makes the show. I just don't like how they do without any continuous progression as the series goes on. The formula is simple, Ash is in a region, goes to earn badges, defeats the evil team, go to the league, and potentially win. The problem is that they retain from the winning aspect just to recycle everything again and again.

I have no problem with it for the first few times, Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and SInnoh. It just builds up Ash's character and experience. You can tell he's gone through a lot of adventures as you see each series.

My problem is the fact that they nerf Ash every single time, most noticeable in the beginning of Black and White. Levels don't really exist in the anime world, at least not in the game mechanic form. However, there are some things Ash and PIkachu should be able to do after being around the world for so long. For example, defeating a starter, and I dunno winning for once.

In terms of a Pokemon Trainer, Ash is probably the worst one out there. As a protagonist that kids can look up too? He seems fine. I haven't watched Pokemon in quite a while. I gave up watching it religiously around the end of 4th gen. The last time I've seen it was only for the N episodes. But if I'm going off of what I've seen, Ash is that loyal, friendly, gung-ho type of guy you want to be friends with.

He's always protective of his Pokemon like they are his own family, (and in a way, they are his family) and he's a pretty good role model. Teaching us to never give up, the value of friendship, and more. I think Ash should stay the protagonist, it just wouldn't seem right if they replaced him.

The only problem is, like I stated, he's a bad Pokemon trainer. His goal is to become a Pokemon Master, but he hasn't even beaten a single champion!! The only times he's excused is the Orange League (which technically he didn't have to win the battle, it was just a test of loyalty), and gen 4, because he was about to win, but Tobias brought a Darkrai and a Latios to the tournament, which pretty much guaranteed his victory. I don't expect him to win every battle (in fact, that's good!) but he shouldn't be losing to Pokemon trainers who are JUST starting their journey, -__-
