I think a dark and gritty reboot of Pokemon is long over-due. We need to be exposing the crazy flarped-up nature of enslaving semi-sentient super-powered animals for the purpose of gladiatorial combat. Am I right or am I right? Let's get Tsugumi Ohba on it!

Someone needs to make an anime based on that.

well in regards to the movie 2000, he is the chosen one.

if they were to remove him, their viewer ship will greatly decline.

i stopped watching the series somewhere between dawn and may, so i still like ash since i still watch the movie.

the best nintendo can do if they want to replace him is to make movies with seperate storyline and if viewer demands the newer character then they can replace ash.

also to the magikarp, ash couldn't handle one. he did own one because of some merchant duped him.

Nostalgia says "you have to keep him!"
That said, the writing of the Pokemon anime is pretty bad anyway (it is for kids), so it doesn't really matter. It's not like the quality of the show would improve with a new main character. So why not keep Ash?

All I'm saying is that we need a Pokemon Special anime. That is all.

I just wish they'd call it a day on the show so that those of us who enjoy the games – seriously, they're great therapy for OCD, as well as excellent entry-level JRPGs – will stop getting lumped in with people rooting for an eternal ten-year-old.

I always liked Ash as the protagonist from the first few seasons. Sadly i think with having Ash stay the same despite the obvious changes in the story itself, the anime isn't as great as the 1st seasons.

Would've been nice to have new characters as main cast, with ash as a cameo/guest.

It's why i looked forward to chronicles, the chance of the characters from the other games getting the lead role.

Ultimately, i think they'll keep the trend they have now for the foreseeable future.

In terms of a Pokemon Trainer, Ash is probably the worst one out there. As a protagonist that kids can look up too? He seems fine. I haven't watched Pokemon in quite a while. I gave up watching it religiously around the end of 4th gen. The last time I've seen it was only for the N episodes. But if I'm going off of what I've seen, Ash is that loyal, friendly, gung-ho type of guy you want to be friends with.

He's always protective of his Pokemon like they are his own family, (and in a way, they are his family) and he's a pretty good role model. Teaching us to never give up, the value of friendship, and more. I think Ash should stay the protagonist, it just wouldn't seem right if they replaced him.

The only problem is, like I stated, he's a bad Pokemon trainer. His goal is to become a Pokemon Master, but he hasn't even beaten a single champion!! The only times he's excused is the Orange League (which technically he didn't have to win the battle, it was just a test of loyalty), and gen 4, because he was about to win, but Tobias brought a Darkrai and a Latios to the tournament, which pretty much guaranteed his victory. I don't expect him to win every battle (in fact, that's good!) but he shouldn't be losing to Pokemon trainers who are JUST starting their journey, -__-

How does one become a Pokemon master?

I've lost interested after he came in 4th place in one of the league (shinio??? spell check). which thats the closest he's gone. but he's been so weak ever since. Can they at least let him win a league for once. I mean this show has been going for what 15+ years now and still he hasn't won a league.

Ash is a pokemon symbol. Honestly, It'd be incredibly difficult for me to transition over to someone taking his place.
