You're welcome.

I think part of it is that devils/demons can be less constrained by social conventions. Examples:

High School DxD - Very few women would be willing to put up with a harem, but devil girls don't have a problem with it.
The Devil is a Part-Timer - A person working at a low level job like McDonald's would not be expected to have much ambition. Mao wants to work hard and using it to catapult him to ruling the world.

Other times it is to give us a misunderstood or discriminated against character:
I Couldn't Become a Hero - The demon princess is actually sweet, naive, innocent, and cheerful.
Maoyu - The demon king is actually a pretty woman who wants to bring peace and prosperity to everyone (along with the love of the hero).

But for your highschool dxd case your point is overruled by anime logic. Your point is only valid in real life lol

High School DxD is one of the few harem anime, however, that actually suggests that the female characters in it would actually be alright with a harem ending (it's more pronounced in the light novels, though). Shuffle! does as well, though I believe its actually the world of the Gods in that series that are okay with polygamy.

Better a maou than a tentacle monster. And don't forget 'The Devil is a Part-Timer'.

One thing to keep in mind about devils, angels, demons, etc.:

Japan does not come from a Christian heritage, and Japanese folktales/Shinto beliefs about the nature of supernatural are very different than what you get in the West. For instance, is much less focus on the battle of good vs. evil, and there is no distinction made between "miracles" and "sorcery". (Christians don't think of Christ as a magician, for instance, and venerate the miracles of the saints even as they burned witches at the stake.)

So when the Japanese use Western religious or mythological imagery, the tendency will be to see it through the lens of what's familiar--which means that you have the Church often portrayed as a center of magical worship, demons and devils who really aren't so bad, crosses and pentagrams used almost interchangeably as magical symbols, etc.
