Police say fourth graders plotted to kill NY teacher.

I don't know about you, but you people need to look at other kids. There's always a few idiots every generation. I mean, Rush Limbaugh is one of the highest paid people on radio (About 100 mil). What does that say about the older generation? And have you seen where Australia has headed with Tony Abbott?

This could say a lot about our culture. We don't have enough respect for teacher as say, Eastern nations. We don't have the Confucianism ethic of working hard either. But that's expected out of a lax culture with many diverse ethnic groups, whereas eastern nations are far more homogeneous.

This generation of children are terrifying. And not just solely the teenagers, not anymore…

I think the real atrocity here is that you're reading Russia Today. It's half a step above Pravda, for Heaven's sake.

Seriously, though: you're blowing this way out of proportion. The kids don't belong in a mental institution and don't need a psychiatric evaluation. There is no need for criminal charges, calling this a "plot" is taking a major liberty considering no one actually followed through, and the school detected and handled the situation professionally with no one ever having been put in danger. This is a case of 9 and 10 year olds saying the same stupid things that 9 and 10 year olds have been saying for decades. Investigating and interviewing the students was appropriate, and I'm sure the school will take proper disciplinary measures, but this is nothing to run about like a decapitated chicken over.

People need to calm down.

You actually make a very valid point. Kids have been saying stupid things like that for ages. Well people in general regardless of age have said stupid things like that. Who hasn't wanted to "kill" someone they considered to mean and rude to them? Now were the kids wrong in wanting to kill their teacher? Yeah, but I believe the correct course of action was taken. Now if the kids actually attempted it( doubtful as I think most if not all would have chickened out) then I would assume a proper course of action would also be taken. They are just kids and kids do say a lot of stupid and dumb things. Also it seems what they considered to be "yelling" most likely was the teacher being a teacher. The kids probably act up quite a bit and the teacher is just doing her job and trying to keep from having everything be hectic.

At my old school I worked as an Extended Care worker and I had a tough time raising my voice to get the kids to settle down and listen to me. Yeah the group I watched disobeyed and basically knew they could do whatever. However when Ms. Weary( she was in charge of Extended Care) rose her voice to get the kids attention those kids listened......Ms. Weary scared even me. There doesn't seem to be any word from the news story that the teacher harms them in any way. So I believe what they assume to be yelling is just the teacher trying to keep order to the class because they act up.

I would be worried if the kids were saying something like, "Let's capture a snake and put it in her handbag" .
That sounds like something from an episode of Naruto. I have seen teens take a dump at the Dean's office before graduation for treating them like shit. No pun intended

I'm actually not surprised because when I think of myself and my friends at fourth grade, we were pretty resourceful and smart. No, we didn't plot to kill people, but we could do a lot as fourth graders. It's only one grade before middle school and in middle school, you thought you knew everything.

Why does something like this surprise anyone? The population of the world is 7 billion, just like the rare cases of children being so smart that they can earn a college degree at the age of 9, we have rare cases of sick minded 9 year olds. No matter the parenting, economic level,etc... some people are just sick. Most people who go on to become criminals lose their innocence and go on a downward spiral, but some are just plain sick to begin with. My problem is parents who are too stupid to hide and lock away their firearms which many times serves the opposite of their intended purpose. In this case, their is probably a "sick" ring leader and pawns who have no understanding of death and the consequences of their actions.

Yeah I just stopped giving a fuck about him. Sure I felt something cause I live in Colorado but there's only so much that I can care about.

Our traditional culture involves getting along with our neighbors, honoring our word, showing mercy and compassion, humility, and considering slothfulness a sin. Even our recent culture involves not giving in to our anger (as it leads to the dark side) and what not.

No, I'm afraid Western Culture is quite excellent, but there will always be some who don't buy into it, or have yet to mature into people of honor.

If there's a problem, it might be that some are forgetful of our classic literature and films.
