I picked up a Vita on impulse and have yet to purchase a game for it. I, and I'm sure others, wouldn't mind having a reference of games to look into. With that said, what do you consider to be this console's "killer app"?

A lot of people will tell you to get Persona 4 Golden so if you really liked or haven't played Persona 4 on PS2, get it. Gravity Rush is a good starting game as well. And then there's Freedom Wars.

If we're not counting ports, I would pick Freedom Wars... if you have no problems with severe use of RNG and waiting times when upgrading equipments.

If we include ports? Hands down, I would pick Disgaea 4 as the VIta's best game right now.

What is a killer app for me may not be a killer app for you. I got the system for Persona 4 Golden but I would rather set my thumbs on fire than play Killzone. Set a filter or you're going to just get a lists of everything. You can get that at the Gamestop website.

I'd rather see you get a game you like and keep playing the Vita than getting something not to your taste and jumping on the Vita sucks bandwagon.

I would say Persona 4 Golden, it's amazing.

However, there are other good titles. Like Freedom Wars (the feel of the game is amazing) or Tales of Hearts R is pretty great. If you're looking for something that will steal your soul the SAO game is pretty good and Akiba's Trip is enjoyable.

Persona 4 Golden.

Buy a PlayStation TV and a copy of P4G and it's the most affordable way to play one of the best RPGs out there.

Persona 4 Golden is probably the best place to start but if you are looking for something else then maybe go for Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc. Amazing game with a great story.

I picked up P4G and have been messing around with that every now and then. Also, heads up. PS Vita sale going on right now for a few select games. I think it's up on PlayStation's blog.

Freedom Wars, at least until God Eater 2 Rage Burst gets localized. But you have Uncharted and NFS: Most Wanted too...

P4G, yes it's a Persona 4 with new Features and whatnot and its amazing, but again, it's not 100% an original game. If we're talking about an original game that screams BUY A VITA FOR ME, then uh, there might not be one. I think the first big, big, big game was Soul Sacrifice aka the first Vita Saviour, which wasn't too extraordinary so that died out. Then there's Freedom Wars aka another Vita Saviour, which again, failed to live up to expectations like Soul Sacrifice although both games are still very competent games.

Killzone Mercenary is one of the Vita's flagship games, but again isn't anything mind-blowing besides for being the Vita's CoD (since Black Ops Declassified sucks bigtime) and also a technically showcase for the platform. Then we got others like Uncharted Golden Abyss, which again, is good but it's not good enough that people would mention as much as Uncharted 1,2,3.

But the Vita all in all, is a JRPG machine. Most of the games being cranked out are JRPGs and most of the games that are actually decent enough to buy are usually JRPGs. This machine makes most of its money in Japan so obviously there would be tons of them, as most AAA developers in Western areas have basically given up on the Vita as a platform to release full-price AAA games.

I'd like to list some of better JRPGs I own on it:

- Persona 4 Golden (yeah, no matter how you look at it, P4G is the best game on the Vita by a mile)
- Disgaea 4
- Ys: Memories of Celceta
- FFX/X-2 Remastered

There's a sale right now and it's got good deals for older games. Lots of Square's oldies like Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross, FFVII, FFVIII, FFIX, but uh word of advice. If you've never played the old FF games or want to relive the glory days, PC is the place to get them now, especially with the larger resolutions. If you get it on Vita, well you're getting what the PSP players got in 2009 or whenever those ports happened, tiny screen with weird control issues at some points. I picked up FFVIII out of nostalgic drive, and have encountered this problem where I would be able to scroll through options and menus but would be unable to select anything for a good 15-20 seconds (think the game was doing something or loading something I don't really know). That and the terrible resolution makes it harder to recommend. *Unless that issue I mentioned was already present on the PS1 release, I wouldn't know since the first time I played FFVIII was actually on the PSP...and it's still my favorite FF game. So I guess the resolution and whatever isn't really a deal-breaker, more like something to consider if you have preferences regarding stuff like that.

I agree with what everyone else has mentioned though, Dangan Ronpa 1 and 2, P4G must own game right there, Disgaea 4 definitely worth your money.

Or you could just get the Walking Dead games or Minecraft or Terraria or something along those lines. It might seem kind of lame to get them on the Vita when they've been available elsewhere since forever. But there's no denying that they're good games.

Persona 4 Golden is definitely a killer app.

Hmm that and many other JRPGs that got ported over to Vita such as Ateliers series or Hyperdimension Neptunia series.

Well you said app so I'm not going to list games. For me it's all about my Crunchyroll app and Remote Play. Playing FFXIV:ARR and Dragon Age from work kicks ass.

killer app... the new and improved nico nico?

Retro wise... I very much like SNK Arcade Classics on Vita

I got several games, but there were only two games that got me hooked until I beat them. One of them was Rollers of the Realm which happens to be 80% off as I write this. The other one was this tower defense game with lots of different types of ships trying to invade and plenty of artillery options to defend with.

Having to do over again... I'd get any RPG I could find with 'Trails' in the title. I'd probably also get Class of Heroes 2, so my Class of Heroes wouldn't be lonely.
