Anyway, I thought about how I was maybe overly apologetic @ religion and decided to write something different, on one I'm not. A few years ago I was curious about it after reserching movies and celebrities, esp in regards to the controversy surrounding the suspicious death of actress Lisa McPherson (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lisa_McPherson‎ and was surprised at so many associated with the group. Being a big fan of sci-fi and the movies, I grew up watching Tom Cruise, Kirstie Alley, John Travolta, etc. A big film based on Scientologist founder L.Ron Hubbard's work to me was Battle field Earth en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battlefield_Earth_(film)‎ (although it sucked I liked it..)

..anyhoo I 'm in no way endorsing scientology ; I was bored and decided to write this from memory as best I can remember :P. My mother thinks David Miscavige is the antichrist, lol.

They seem to grant higher spiritual status to those who are generous financially, and a while back I reserched founder L.Ron Hubbard and found he had a colourful hitory, with ties to Aleister Crowley and the occult for example, lol/ if you research it is rather interesting.

If I recall right humans are reincarnated aliens called Thetians from some faraway planet and we become elnightened by gaining OT levels or something by donating money and auditing via instruments knom as an e-meter

Anyhow apparently they believe they are taking over the world from hollywood and are speading like wildfire. They got thrown out of Great Britain and lost their status as a tax-exempt religion there for trying to infiltrate NAMI, the National Institute of Mental Health and attack psychiatry over there (Hubbard was anti-psychiatry) This is related to the death of Lisa McPherson, she needed treatment and they took her out and gave her a Introspection Rundown en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Introspection_Rundown‎, essentially confining her in an inhumane manner, ignoring her, sometimes depriving her of food and water , resulting in her death.

There are many conspiracy theories of celebrites like Oprah, Will Smith, etc joining, endorsing to even running scientology.

So, what do you think? Discuss.

I work for a Polytechnic library in New Zealand - every 6 months they send through the mail a whole set of Scientology DVDs (which amounts to 18) - they do this for all universities / polytechnics and colleges. We just send them back or use them as coasters.

If they want money so badly and they have a bunch of actors following them, they should just do what anime and everybody else does for easy money:

Scientologists set up tables on my college campus trying to sell copies of Dianetics while getting people to undergo their e-meter auditing process (which they call a "free stress test"). I really don't like these people.

Of course Scientology is a huge scam and bordering on cult status, but from my perspective I see the beliefs no less crazy than other more 'normal' religions. If anything they are probably closer to the truth suggesting that life came from outer space. Just probably not the other nonsense.

True. The elite administrative organization within the Church of Scientology, The Sea Org , has itself a long history of abuse. For instance it expects pregnant mothers to get an abortion and excommunicates them (essentially cutting them off from their family and their religion) and they also do a lot of covering up of abuse . They shun dissenters than go after them and their friends and families for speaking out against them publicly, following them around, spying on them and harrassing them, taking pictures and making smear campaigns. The aformentioned link you providedhttp://www.nytimes.com/2010/03/07/us/07scientology.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0 can do it better justice*s* Thank you for providing the link essentially reminding me on what I missed BlueOni, I'm grateful *s*
