Who makes your favorite tacos?
Posted 1/11/15
Are we talking about soft shell tacos or Real tacos! If anything it's the small mexican taquerias that make the best tacos, and my Tia and grandma make thee best tacos too. Put some cilantro, homemade salsa, onion, and limon on top of that taco and Bam! Idk what that person at top is talking about "not Mexicans" "Chinese" ._.

Not Mexicans for sure.

Even when you go to a small Chinese take out restaurant, the ones who are cooking are not Chinese.

The secret is that sweet soy sauce. Not the regular soy sauce. The sweet soy sauce. Add that. Bam! Chinese.

For Hispanic's, tomato sauce in a can. Everything is tomato sauce.

I'm pretty sure my mexican food is made by mexicans, and my chinese food is made by the chinese. >.>

But our japanese and thai food is made by the same people that do the chinese so........................:P

It's not the "sweet" soy sauce. It's just balancing flavors and spices properly. The more you use the ingredients, the more you get used to them and that better understanding lends to better utility.

Also, a legitimate secret is cornstarch instead of flour as a thickening agent and also as a batter/"breading". ;)

I used to work in a Mexican restaurant next to 2 nightclubs anyway graveyard shift we had a entire family from Nigeria that were all the cooks the only Mexican we had cooking was an elderly lady and her only job was to make menudo all night long. Whenever someone wanted to meet the cook the bosses would bring her out. Any trying to learn how to do flour tortillas from scratch.

Ah, no.

It is how we cook our shrimp lo me in. And that's with sweet soy sauce. It's the finishing touch. Not to mention, the right noodles make it justice.
Get a different noodle and we might as well switch culture.

I dunno guys... I'm thinking that I either live in a strange area where mexican food is made by mexicans, chinese food is made by the chinese, the italian food is made by Italians and IS FUCKING SUPERB (seriously. a pizza outside of NJ barely qualifies as "pizza"), and other asian cuisine is of dubious origin. , or, everyone else's foods are just sub par.

Seriously though, it's just a matter of good ingredients and proper execution.

No clue, I haven't eaten tacos in awhile. Though I imagine homemade would be better.

Two places, my kitchen when my wife is cooking.

And our favorite Mexican Restaurant. If you live around the northwest side of Chicago or the burbs, it is worth a trip. Not that far from the Mitsuwa Japanese mall in Arlington Heights, Il. Taqueria El Gallo de Oro is wonderful.

God now I want some Tacos de bistec >~<

of course I do--they are the best because I prepare the ingredients, cook the meat, and decide what sauces and spices to use.
