Ben-To: A little-known series from a production company that would go on to do JoJo left an impact on how ridiculous ideas can lead to an amazing end product. Being released during the Occupy movement, this series feels like it takes place during that time yet doesn't reference it.

As dumb as it may sound, Naruto has had the biggest impact on me. I got into it when I was younger and going through a lot of hard things in my life, especially with a person I considered to be one of my best friends. The show provided a lot of escapism, and as stupid as it sounds, I could relate to the whole Sasuke betrayal and defection, though obviously not in a literal sense. The morals and messages of the story were something I really needed to hear at the time as well.

I'm not really into it anymore, but it's one of those things that hold a certain significance to you even as time goes on.

Hard to say really at one point I was a big Inuyasha fan and that was the series that got me into anime though I consider Hunter x Hunter possibly the best anime I've seen.

My anime "gateway drug" would have to be FLCL or Spirited Away. Although the first anime I got into was Sailor Moon in the 90's I wasn't serious about anime at all until FLCL showed on CN's Adult Swim. I seriously have both soundtracks, the manga, and the dvds, and it's only 6 episodes.

What left the greatest impact though... that's a hard one. First I thought Fairy Tale [yes that's a little lame, but if we're counting feels I do end up crying almost every 3 episodes. The power of friendship is strong with this one! lol] But really I have 3 shows that changed how I saw anime as a genre all together. 1) Attack on Titan- It had to be some of the most powerful gut wrenching action I've seen in awhile. They really didn't pull any punches with some of the scenes and I loved it. 2) FLCL- The high speed in your face action with this one. YES. 3) Do. Not. Laugh. Sekai Ichi Hatsukoi - World's Greatest First Love introduced me to the world of BL, and its been quite the ride. It's not the best, but it did have a great impact on my viewing because I never thought I'd like something romantic. Even though I'm a girl I've never been sappy like that. Rose petals flying around and stuff, lol. But I really enjoyed it, and it changed how I look at romance all together. Because of that show I've given a lot of random anime a shot and just recently got into the drama section and I'm already drooling over Boys over Flowers.

And for non-shows I have to mention Paprika and Tekkonkinkret both were amazing movies.

I'm also stealing everyone's recommendations while I'm here, lol

I'd say Berserk when I was a kid (for obvious reason of watching that kind of anime when you're a child).

Now From the New World. Just..wow, it's too bad it starts so slowly until episode 3
