It not being announced this late in the game (and after ISUCA) kinda gives me a feeling that whatever it is, it's not a regular anime. Hopefully not a short or another J-Drama, though. Maybe it's a latecast of Tsukimonogatari? Or some sort of OVA?

Is-9 wrote: I actually went and calculated on it a bit to see if it was just the low number of shows this season, but no. Since at least summer 2013, around 60% of the new shows airing in Japan each season (not counting shorts) have been streaming on Crunchy for Scandinavia, but unless the last announcement is for a full-length anime (which I doubt it is), we're only getting 35% this season.

Its not just the number of shows this season compared to Winter 2014, its:

(1) The smaller number of shows this season

(2) The larger number of Funimation licenses, which seemed to have been from licensors that have started to include Scandinavia in their "English language Europe" region, and

(3) At least one sequel (Durarara!!) that moved from a direct streaming license to an Aniplex sub-license losing Scandinavian rights in the process. The Aniplex titles that have have included the Norse countries seemed to have been because of region extension contracts direct from Aniplex of Japan, and those likely hinge on the various Animax channels in Europe (whether cable or digital) passing on a series.

There's nothing Crunchyroll can do about (1) or (2), and combined it puts the squeeze on the total number of series available to Crunchyroll.

However, given that the "familial relations" between Aniplex of America and Animax in Europe does not extend to the Norse countries (Scandinavia, Finland, Iceland), Crunchyroll needs to get down on their hands and knees and beg Aniplex of America to start including Norse rights in their streaming rights ask. Aniplex including Latin America in their ask has been a big part in the expansion of Latin American rights over the past few years.

There's still a box outstanding, of course.

I wouldn't rule out the last simulcast box being Kuroko's Basketball, and the first two seasons included Scandinavia and Finland. Given how close to premier date the Japanese tend to sign these simulcast streaming contracts, it only takes a minor glitch to cause a week or more delay in the signing of a series.

Another possibility would indeed be a "seasonal stream" of Tsukimonogatari (because I refuse to call a month or so delayed stream a simulcast).

I wish they would just count Holland as a part of the UK or arrange something regarding the 'English' speaking part of main land Europe. Even tried in German, but my German just isn't good enough. Funi also doesn't seem an option (or has that changed). So it's quite annoying missing so many shows (a majority this line up).

The way Europe is split up seems completely random, honestly, and it varies from publisher to publisher. It's the same for Scandinavia, sometimes we're English-speaking, sometimes we're continental Europe, a few times we've even been counted as German-speaking.

Nothing has changed about FUNi so far, though they've been hinting at expanding internationally recently, so we can have hope.

From what I can tell, NO region is getting all shows this season - not counting shorts, J-Dramas and continuing/catalog titles, there are 19 new shows coming to Crunchyroll this season, and even the US (which has the highest number of shows available as always) is only getting 14 of them. Aside from Asia, Australia seems to be doing worst this season, with only 6 new shows. How many titles are streaming in the Netherlands?

For NL I count 14 new Anime, 2 J-drama and 1 ?-box. So we seem to be on par with the US. I think we got more titles than the UK last season but I'm not sure...

Does that include the german/spanish/french subtitled shows? Cause I really don't count those as most Dutch aren't as good in these languages as in English. Counting 10 in total (+ 1 short), with definately missing some interesting titles, but including earth defence club and some censored etchi shows.

I count those as German is mandatory in the first years of high school and German language proficiency increases dramatically towards the eastern border.
Most people I know took either German or French as their third language course so I think a lot of Dutch people born since the 1970's have a second European language to fall back on when English is unavailable.

Interesting... I assume you count Military! among those 14 anime (which I didn't in my tally), which means that as far as I can tell, the Netherlands is actually the region with the second highest number of new series available (one less than the US, which has 15 if Military! is included). If my information is correct, everywhere else has 13 (12 excluding Military!) at best - the UK, Ireland and Latin America gets 13, South Africa and German-speaking Europe appears to have 10 anime (can anyone confirm this?), Scandinavia and the rest of Europe 11, and MENA gets 12. Australia, Asia and the rest of Africa has barely anything. So it seems that the Netherlands is actually doing pretty well, considering that all of Crunchyroll took quite a blow this season.

Though that obviously doesn't mean much if most of it is not subtitled in any language you understand...

I have been counting the number of new anime simulacast wich are available to Latin America for several seasons and this time we got 14 ones, including Military!. Spain and Portugal got 13 ones(I haven't count other European countries).
