I never really started Watching Anime until I started subscribing to Crunchyroll; However I can see why a lot of people would bash them. I find that a lot of anime's share certain elements with each other that can pretty much be called cliches. It goes without saying most Japanese Animations will have the Festival or Beach Resort episodes; but those seems to serve mostly as fanservice. For me, I don't really care what I watch in terms of Anime, I just think it's interesting to see the parallels between a lot of them. To say the least, Japanese Animation is probably as good as American Television in that you have very few shows that stand out beyond the rest of the balderdash. Sons of Anarchy's and the Breaking Bad's are just the bigger fish in a slew of Sitcoms, Reality TV,Mature Cartoon Comedies,Cop Dramas, and bad business shows. All in all, it doesn't really matter what people bash, because if they don't watch because of what someone said, then they weren't really interested in it in the first place.

I know how you feel. It's not just anime it's any type of entertainment. People all over the place bashing this or that. Most of the time people say something is awful and I enjoyed it. I swear I think I'm the only person on the planet that's not a critic.

haters can go fuck themselves, I'll watch what I want.

personally, I don't understand why people spend so much time on whining/complaining/"discussing"/whatever a show if they don't like it. they could be spending that time whining/complaining/"discussing"/whatever a show that they DO like.

but people are weird. they'd rather bitch and moan about something they hate, berating the fans of whatever that show is, just because they think their opinion is "correct".

Well I certainly enjoy them. Some might not but I would think the vast majority do.

Positive or negative, opinions are just opinions. And everyone is entitled to their own. We all enjoy different things and that's what makes the world so diverse and wonderful and blah blah blah, you know what I mean.
It's nice to have a group of like minded fans to discuss your favorites, but at the same time, no need being butt hurt if the next person thinks differently.
I don't see a problem with people expressing their negative opinions. When someone goes on and on like a broken record, be it praise or criticism, it could be equally annoying tbh. If you can't embrace it, just ignore it if it bothers you. Life is too short to worry about little things.

I find it funny when people say it comes down to preference. Preference does not amount to quality. I have enjoyed shows that were pretty bad but i won't say the entertainment value i got from it equates to "Good Quality"

Nobody here said preference amounts to quality. All that was said is that it's a matter of personal preference.

I was mostly saying this in response to posts I've seen elsewhere. I've seen posts where people say nothing is bad and it's all a matter of preference which i find mind boggling. By that logic there is no such thing as bad writing.

Honestly, for me it's getting to the point where I wonder whether I've seen all the anime that I'd ever like.

Every so often stuff like Akame ga Kill comes along, but these days shows that really impress me are few and far between. As a result, I've actually been watching more j-Dramas lately ;<

If it wasn't for watching anime, im pretty sure i would have downed a bottle of mercury by now.

I enjoy quite alot of stuff coming out, however I tend to look forward to stuff mostly done by either SHAFT or Kyoto-Animations

I am new to anime. I luv it and watch it everyday. I dont bother with the haters. There are some anime views that bash various series. I dont listen to those people either. So i guess what I'm saying is that life is hard enough without negativity, so I stay away from it.

just to add one thing. there are multiple animes based off light novels that are bashed about its story and such but the story is actually really good. it just took 3-4 volumes to really develop the story. just for an example blade dance anime was bashed badly and which i will say it wasnt the best. however when i read the light novels i realized how good the story really was.

Media has to be judged on its own merits, not on it's source material. It's very easy to say the light novel, manga, or book is better, and this is probably true, but I'm not reading those, I'm watching the anime. The SAO light novels are pretty good, but the anime falters in places, and thats just way it is. They are two separate entities and should be judge as so. This applies to Harry Potter, Akame Ga Kill, Hunger Games, Log Horizon, so and so forth. Yes the source material is usually better, but faulty adaptations should not get a pass because of this.

Both criticism and praise bring growth. Either one forces stagnation though.

You should never praise someone for doing the wrong thing, and you should never criticize someone for doing the right thing. The truth is not always sweet, however a diet of pure sugar only causes obesity and diabetes.

So argue, complain, criticize! No circle jerking!
