I was almost hit by a car, the driver stopped with about 30 centimetres between us. I had a friend who was hit by a car though. He says he didn't remember anything after being hit since he immediately blacked out, but it shattered all of his teeth.

Was riding my bike home from school in like 6th grade, I was going pretty fast down the sidewalk and hit a little ramp going past an alley way when boom got hit in the side by the car. It didn't hurt at all, I was so surprised that I was fine cause I flew a good like.. 4-7 ft? I wanted to get out of there fast cause a crowd started gathering. I Got on my bike and just rode home. Later I realized a peg was missing and was a little pissed about that..

ALWAYS go to the hospital after an accident!!! Were the police called and you have their driving information I hope?! Some injuries don't start to hurt until hours or even days later, and if anything turns into any sort of permanent injury that hospital visit is your proof that it is a result of the accident!

I did not go to the hospital after a car accident when I was about your age, and I regretted it greatly in the weeks and months that followed. Also, not to completely freak you out, but my husband was hit by a car in his youth which very likely led to the scoliosis he later developed... go to the hospital!

I can not believe you just made me serious-post on CR.

^ DUDE. This. I also urge you to get yourself checked out as soon as possible, OP. Other than that, glad to know you're okay.

And no, fortunately I haven't experienced being hit by a car.

Once. Red pickup. Got thrown a few feet. Shook it off and walked away. Had a bit of a tingly arm thing for a week.

A few other near misses. One of which involved crossing the street when a car was going about 60mph, blew a tire out, and went through the intersection, and up someone's steps (brick) to crash into the (brick) wall. I was missed by about 8-10 inches.

Oh I swear they always do that. Or when crossing the street at an intersection, they seem ti turn towards my direction and nearly hit me while I'm on the yellow line. I think it's part road rage at the fact that *GASP* pedestrians get right of way, and partly some sadistic game to see how close they can get to hitting someone without actually doing it and what sort of reaction it'll get.

I hate drivers.

It happened to me a little over a year ago. Fortunately I live in an are where everyone drives half the speed limit.

In my case I'll fairly admit that it wasn't really either of our faults. I just didn't see him coming due to parked cars blocking my view of his, nor did I hear his car and I went to walk across the road. Given he was an elderly man I doubt he was trying to live life on the edge, I was just lucky he was driving slowly :p

I actually hate people who walk across the road and just assume people will stop for them. It's people like that who get hit by cars and then complain when it happens. I was taught that unless it's at a red light then the car has the right of way; even then you should wait for the driver to stop just to be extra sure. Countless times I've seen people cross the road without waiting for a car to slow down, and I fear one of these days I'll see a person like that get hit.

When I was riding a bicycle as a kid, yep. Probably flew around 3-4 metres. I walked back home after that.

Thanks for your concern but it really wasn't that big a deal. This happened only a few seconds after the light turned green. The car had just started to move so it wasn't going fast when it hit me. I think my clothes broke my fall. Thank God it's winter or I wouldn't have been wearing such thick clothing. With my weak skin, I definitely would've gotten scratches and bruises all over the place if I wore any less clothing.

Besides, if anything starts aching later, it really wouldn't be any different than how my body usually is. Feeling weird pain around body is normal for me, as strange as that sounds.

No, but I do recall someone getting the skin along their whole arm ripped off from getting nicked by a car going over the speed limit. In a neighbor where the limit is 20 mph. I believe he was going 30-40.

People always gotta speed for whatever reason, don't they?

Ah. typically it's while I've been in crosswalks. And crossing after they slow down as they're approaching. Otherwise there's simply no way to cross as you can easily get 20 cars that will slow into a turn without stopping to yield.

And then there's the jackasses the pull ALLLLLLL the way across the crosswalk while I'm standing there waiting for the to stop, and then expect me to walk across halfway into the road rather than walking across their god damned hood. Some days I think, in fact, I should wear spikes on my shoes and climb over their hoods. >.<

Unfortunately yes, I wasn't even in the road, I was on the pavement. One car collided with another which sent the hit car my way. Since I know about first aid and injuries I stayed still and let the ambulance crew check me out and take me to A & E. I was sore from head to foot but didn't have a scratch. What the hospital treated was my asthma. I'd been a bit chesty that morning but decided it wasn't so bad. Doctors didn't see it that way. I still pass by and see the dent in the wrought iron fence where the car spun after it hit me. If I'd been standing further back near the fence, I'd have been wedged between the wrecked car and distorted fence. I'd have had to be cut free if that was the case. I went back to work a bit too soon (month after incident) because after the first hour my back and shoulder started to hurt. The doc said the waiting list for physio was long so I didn't bother. I had a sore shoulder for two years afterwards and stopped being active so I gained a lot of weight then.
