Post Reply Dark Content

In most anime series, good always triumph over evil anyway. Like Light, he lost in the end. So it usually gives the message to the (underdeveloped) viewers that it's always better to side with the good side because you always end up winning.

Glamorisation of evil usually doesn't last very long; the evil character tends to go soft... e.g. Mereum or sorry i can't remember any more.

I do believe caution should be taken when showing mature themed content to younger viewers. I don't believe humans are born with empathy. Empathy is developed by society and surroundings.

reading or watching "dark content" doesn't really bother me in the least.

I would have to agree with GayAsianBoy. This part here, "I do believe caution should be taken when showing mature themed content to younger viewers. I don't believe humans are born with empathy. Empathy is developed by society and surroundings." I don't think it makes sense to not show younger viewers dark content. Yes caution should be taken but exposure to dark content is still necessary. C'mon imagine only being exposed to "light content" what an unimaginable upbringing.

Yes it certainly does have an impact but no I don't think exposure to dark content makes one more inclined to imitate the dark content. Though I can imagine dark content giving a person the idea of the dark content portrayed or implied and later that idea being positively reinforced through other stimuli and resulting in a imitation of the dark content. But like i said i don't think exposing someone to dark content alone makes them more likely to do it themselves.

But what do you mean by "dark content" anyways?

A lot of the time i get bored of watching anime were there is chibi mode everywhere and is just all jokes and puns, i like watching darker/serious themed anime just because you get more attached to the characters and the story. I like gore anime, but in no way does that make me want to kill/rape anybody. Although i will admit that anime has made me a lil' more perverted :3

I personally like dark anime, and books, but this does not make me want to go and reenact what I watched in real life.

well, it has to work.
for me, black lagoon was great.
on the other hand, blood + just felt like it was trying too hard to be dark.
knights of sidonia is a pretty middle of the road, but then you get hit with

another thing is how its presented. the rape in btoom hit me harder in the anime than it did in the manga.
