Hey guys!

I didn't really see a main thread (other than the one asking if anyone was going) for this convention so I'll make one!

Personally I had so much fun at this con. Last time I went, was in 2010 and the quality of the convention really improved since. Even attendance!

This was also the last year ALA was held at the LAX Marriott so it was really a bitter sweet ending of this convention. It will be at the Ontario Convention Center in Ontario, CA in 2016!

Also, I was on the Crunchyroll livestream with my brother! Got a Your Lie in April poster for being premium and won 2 DVDs for winning a game against my brother on the stream

Anyways here's a little video I made:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E7XsbYS_H2k
And some pictures!: https:[email protected]/sets/72157647976196673/

What was the attendance like? From what I've seen it seems to be a much smaller convention with a big emphasis on cosplay and smaller panels and there doesn't seem to be much presence from larger companies there like Funimation and Viz. I was actually thinking about going but I decided against it, so I will definitely go next time.

What did you use to record and take photos by the way?

I was watching the livestream (first time too), it was pretty funny and also creepy at times - the chat that is. The Crunchyroll dude Ben(?) with the blue shirt was pretty awesome and also the guy with the pink wig.

I loved ALA this year even if I did get sick a couple days after the con. I'm bummed that it's no longer at the Marriott, but I'm excited at what the new venue will offer with space to grow in (plus, there's an In N Out in walking distance, that is AWESOME, lol). I wrote a little recap of my experience: http://thecasualotaku.net/2015/01/12/anime-los-angeles-2015-a-recap/

The attendance was capped at 4000 people. For the past 11 years, the convention was held at the Marriott so it makes sense that it's a small event. Cosplay is definitely a bigger part of this convention and because of its small size, you become friends with people and you almost always see them at larger cons. It's always nice to see a familiar face at AX in that swarm of people

What I love about this convention is the ribbons that people make and pass out. It gets people more involved and gets them to interact with each other. Even the hotel staff had badges and ribbons! If you read anotakuforlife's blog, you'll see what I mean about the ribbons.

Yes Funimation, Fiz and other large companies don't normally make a presence at ALA. Convention is too small for that. However, next year, this convention will be held at the Ontario Convention Center (Ontario, CA). If a lot of people end up preregistering and the outcome is that of maybe Fanime, then no doubt we'll have larger companies show up.

To record the video, I used a Sony Handycam HDR-CX110. Unfortunately, this was my first time using the camera and it defaults to recording in SD rather than HD. I had to tweak the video around to make it look better. My next con vid will definitely be in HD.

For pictures, I used Canon EOS Rebel T3.
