These were just quick little projects I threw together while working on other things, inspired by the logo sequence in Marvel's Agents of SHIELD:

The main shapes are cut from 1/2" insulation foam, which I coated with Smooth-On 320 plastic resin for a bit of strength and to seal it so I could use spraypaint without the foam melting. For the SHIELD logo, I went with an aluminum spraypaint and a AA-powered dome light painted blue behind, while Hydra used airbrushed acrylic paints and a red/gold tinted light.

Each measures 20" across, and they make for excellent nightlights

Hope this inspires other projects! Have any Marvel fun to share?

Thanks, everyone! I was really happy with the back lights as well, they were an inexpensive option that turned out to work better than I'd hoped, really.

Wasn't really planning on making more of these.. they're pretty cheap, really, the lights cost more than everything else in them. Maybe $7 in total materials? Shipping would be much more expensive than making them. But the patterns are easy to share, I'd be more than happy to send those if you'd like to make your own!

I don't have a machine, studio, or materials to make them on my own.

Decided I needed one for Agent Carter as well (apologies for the bad phone camera shots)

Agent Carter's ended up looking a lot smaller than the others (even though it's the most complex of the bunch), because I decided to standardize these at 20" across. That width fit well on the wall, but I feel like that one looks undersized compared with the others, so I'll probably make another, larger version later.
