I never could for years, until someone explained a little trick; now I can park anywhere!! I am a landscaper & have a light truck for work, and my employees have been amazed at my ability to squeeze into the tiny space in front of the bank that even a mini-driver wont attempt! Keep trying, it is worth it when you dont have to spend hours looking for the one space you dont have to parallel into!!

Yes.
Don't they require you to know before you take the driving test? Well, in California, I had to learn it as part of my behind-the-wheel course, and got tested on it during my test.

Yes, but not well. Also, I rarely have to do so - so, my skills are rusty.

Learned how with a double-cab pickup truck.

I can do it, but I prefer not to have to or to have a lot of excess space when doing so.

Look at my age, back when I was a kid it was the norm to learn how to parallel park.

My fun got started when I was a break-bulk supervisor at a freight company. Had to learn how to get up to 48 foot trailers into the spaces at the warehouse without destroying the trailers around the space. Happily a friend was a local semi driver and taught me the trick on how to steer so that the back end of the trailer was going the direction you wanted.

Yep, it's really easy. Even easier now that I have a smaller car, but I always could before too. It's really useful for when I go up to Chicago with friends - it's hard to find parking lots up there and most of the spaces are parking on the sides of the street.

It is something that everyone's supposed to be tested on when they're doing their driving test, but the area I live in they don't seem to test you on it. I don't think I know anyone around my age that was tested on parallel parking when they got their licenses. Some of the younger kids have so I suppose that's something the testers got drilled about sometime more recently... which is really nice considering how many people I see pull in and out of a damn space without even turning their wheel like they expect to glide right in sideways. Idiots.

just because they require you to do it for a driving test doesn't mean people have to do it on a daily basis thus they forget/ can't do it anymore out of lack of using that ability

Practice makes perfect. It took a lot of practice, I might add.
