I had the chance to dive with black or white tip reef sharks about 12 years ago in Hawaii. It's been too long to remember which one I got to swim with, but it was a really cool experience for an 11 year old kid. I almost managed to touch one as it swam by. That tropical reef really was amazing.

You're making me jealous. I would love to do something like that. The Great Barrier Reef is on my bucket list, I hope it survives long enough for that to happen.

Sharks are fish. As for their scales, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fish_scale#Placoid_scales

I don't fear that which I eat, which is why I don't fear the majority of seafood, elk, cow, chicken....

Once I eat shark, I shall not fear it either. For I shall take it's strength.

The chickens, man. The chickens happen.....

I'm also mentally scarred because of Fable.

I've played Fable, at least the first one, and found it ridiculous how your evil-o-meter goes up whenever you kill chickens.

But we're really going off-topic... unless chickens are genetically similar to sharks... we should talk about something shark related.

Have you ever tried shark fins soup? (Are they made of real shark fins?)

They're fascinating but that doesn't mean I don't go scuttling out of ocean water every time someone yells that they might've spotted a dorsal fin.

I have never eaten shark fin soup. I don't really want to do anything to support the finning industry with how it's going now.
