I personally believe that we as civilians deserve the right to bear arms. As stated in the Constitution we do have the right to own weapons, and I also believe that they are needed for us to be able to protect ourselves, our homes and our families. So what do you think? Should we the people be allowed to bear arms?

Don't you know guns kill people? Take all the guns away and crime goes down!....oh wait, these things called criminals exist that don't follow law so we are taking guns out of lawful citizens and criminals go unchanged.

No.
I live in a country where guns are outlawed, and we don't have problems like in the USA...

The only people who don't like owning guns are people who haven't tried owning guns.

Since criminals are already getting illegal guns, if you ban all guns you are really just taking the guns away from the citizens leaving us unarmed, and the criminals armed.

yea its, well to be blunt, someone uses a certain gun to kill a bunch of people, they reduce the clip size of that gun or make it harder to own, yet if someone ran over a bunch of people with a big truck, they wouldn't make the truck illegal.

There are a lot of crazy people and a lot of stupid people. A gun in the hands of someone who is incompetent or mentally unstable can be a very dangerous thing. Occasionally, even in the hands of someone who is supposedly competent, negligent discharges happen, such is Darwinism. Should civilians own guns? Yes, but with accountability practices enacted. A gun can be a weapon. It can also be a tool. Guns can also be used for recreation.

I have no problems with guns, to me it shows a person character to be more afraid of an object than of the person holding said object. In my town we have a population of less than 3000 and in ten years we had only had one murder. Ironically it was a guy stabbing his girlfriend. Grew up with ranchers, hunters, and regular people walking around open carry rifles or they had pistols concealed . Not once was I fearful, now I know many people who live out in the ranches where they have been force to scare off either animals or illegals.

I will admit that what helps with the security of this town is everyone knows each other and om a average day we usually have close to 200 border agents drive through everyday. Not once have I heard about any fire fights break out from the towns people and the border portal in fact twice have the ranchers come to the aid of the agents and many people in town know them by there first names.

Now in places where they make it hard for law abiding people to keep guns the cities, states, whoever pushes for more control they should be held accountable for any crimes they fail to prevent. After all your giving up a freedom for more security so its only fair right?

Well that's my 2 cents

BTW if anyone knows where I could find a sig p-210 Only one I found guy wants close to 3k x_X

I will be hanging onto my guns, regardless of what the law says. America has a lot of issues, but I will always support the second amendment. I should be able to CC with 16 round of 9MM in the mag and one one in the chamber. Outlawing guns would only render law abiding citizens defenseless and me a criminal. Sounds like a pretty stupid attempt to reduce crime.

I'm torn on the issue.

On the one hand, I completely understand and support the notion that people should be allowed and able to defend themselves, and that making guns illegal won't stop determined criminals from trying to get their hands on some. I live in The Netherlands, a country with (to my knowledge) pretty restrictive gun laws; but there's also been a mass shooting here.*

Then again, making it easier for citicens to acquire guns also makes it easier for people with bad intentions to get their hands on them, as evidenced by the disturbing number of shooters who were in fact able to buy them legally even when they had a known history of (mental) problems.

Bottom line: I don't have an answer; but I can see where both sides are coming from.

Guns?

Why yes thank you!

Funny, it's easier to get a SMG down-under than here in the states. Market is flooded with illegal weapons in Aussieland right now.

It doesn't account for iillegal gun sales.. for the right price and the right connections a gun can easily end up in the hands of unsavory folk. Also, someone imho can just as easily rob someone @ knifepoint (rarely with bow;), or murder a person with a knife or a car.
However, a nation-wide ban on gun ownership also makes it more difficult for criminals to sell guns because then noone should have them ,and there is significantly more pressure from prospective buyers to keep them hidden away from authorities.

I think that it's not necessary to really have them in civilian hands if the legal system works as it is meant to. It is true that countries that do not permit ordinary civilians to own firearms have much lower crime rates. On the other hand, guns are used for other things than for violent acts so from someone that likes to hunt for their own food outdoors thats equal to putting too much power in the hands of the government, and because of what..? Some inner city thugs are stealing cars and holding up liquor stores...? Because there are more criminals nowadays than good people..? This is why mathematicians shouldn't rule the world: statistics and numbers are used to justify oppressing legislation. Still I'm for gun control. The pros seemingly outweigh the cons, they are too much of a hazard to be abused.
