Licensing of gun owners, registration for every gun sold, and mandatory liability insurance for both should be the norm. We do it with cars, no reason we couldn't do it for guns.

Will it happen in my life-time? Not a chance.

If guns are outlawed, then outlaws will be the only people that have guns.

I personally believe that we as civilians deserve the right to bear arms. As stated in the Constitution we do have the right to own weapons, and I also believe that they are needed for us to be able to protect ourselves, our homes and our families. So what do you think? Should we the people be allowed to bear arms?

Don't you know guns kill people? Take all the guns away and crime goes down!....oh wait, these things called criminals exist that don't follow law so we are taking guns out of lawful citizens and criminals go unchanged.

No. Guns don't kill people. Go set a loaded gun down on a table and see if it shoots someone without making contact with it. PEOPLE are the ones that use guns to kill people. If I stab someone in the eye with a sword, is the sword at fault?

Ideally, the citizens should be able to trust their government to protect them, not having to resort to vigilante justice.

NO. There is no need for them at this point. Ban them all.

Ok fine you can keep them if they're deactivated.

As with everything it should be in moderation people should be able to own guns not a thousand guns or an assault rifle. There's no need for anything more than a handgun since by its self it can kill, and I suppose if when people hunt a special license(eventhough that is a thing).

I live in a country where guns are outlawed, and we don't have problems like in the USA...

usa is messed up, but its not because guns are outlawed. its because that instead of dealing with an issue we like to just seperate it from society for as long as it can.

even in australia, you can buy bullets, a barrel, a stock, scope. the only thing that is banned is the trigger mechanism that anyone can build especially since the blue prints are online.

im not sure where i stand on guns, but i believe that we should be able to live without worrying that the guy in front of you is going to put a whole in your chest.

I love guns.

Everyone should have one. Or every household

Switzerland practices this.....to some extent. Switzerland implements conscription, and soldiers get to have guns in their homes. Point is that Switzerland has a significant rate of domestic ordnance (gun ownership, etc), yet there's very little firearm-related crimes committed.

Switzerland has its sh!t together, though.

Guy from the US (Washington) here,

I just bought #15, and I'm just starting my collection.

Firearms are dangerous, but the people who misuse them are at fault. If you stab someone or run them over, it's the person's fault, but people aren't generally scared of knives or cars, so they aren't seen in the same light as when somebody gets shot. Firearms are easily changed, unfortunately, whereas you can't gut a car or limit household knife length on a whim.

I went with the suicide argument the last time... don't know how the statistics have changed on what's the largest uses of guns by civilians since, because I haven't checked. Use it how you like , I'm not against it. Cannot ban it anyway once it's ingrained in a society.

No, I believe the "Right to Bear Arms" is in the constitution in case of a tyrannical government (If I recall correctly, the obtaining of guns was a problem when the US was beginning to form).

I also believe that anyone mentally sound should own a gun. Think about it, would you attempt to rob someone who likely owns a gun?

I'd like to go back to the time when we can use knives and swords. Guns just makes it that much easier.
