I'll actually be able to reply now. I still have to finish Maid Sama and the Pet girl of Sakurasano High too before i start anything new.

Both are excellent series. I'm waiting to receive my new Maid Sama (English Dub) Blu-ray in the next few days. I already had Maid Sama, but since Monica Rial did English voice of Misaki Ayuzawa I just had to order it.

What's the relationship progress/development like in Maid Sama? At episode 6, I thought this would be record breaking relationship advancement, but I've paused at episode 10 or 11 now for the past couple weeks, because I feel like everything is just back at square one +some kind of development.

Pet girl is another one of my favs/highest rated too lol. It follows more the annoying first romance plot I mentioned, but I felt that it was the one romance anime that people could really take stuff away from if they weren't into romance animes. Also Monogatari Second Season is where everything really gets intense in the show, lots of sad/bittersweet stuff.

Also I think Tachibana looks the best out of all the girls, with Tsugumi in second, but I always have to route for the original love interests/dandere girls lol. Also can I mention how I hate the people that made Nisekoi. Out of all the romance/harem animes I've ever seen the childhood friend has won maybe once or twice. And then they go make this show where all the love interests (besides Tsugumi) are childhood friends and then never resolve the relationship. Like cmon!

It's been awhile since i seen the series but I liked it enough to order DVDs/BRs (twice). On the whole the introduction of a rival for Misaki caused a temporary reset of the relationship, but it moved forward again, Unfortunately this is one of those series that could have used another season. Still I really liked it. And Pet Girl I also got the BRs for and think Mashiro is just adorable. And her name is a clue to her personality.

I've actually seen all 3 seasons of Shana and its movie, and I can say Shana successfully grew on me as a character. I know for a fact I hated her in the beginning because I wanted to stop watching it, but back then I had OCD and had to finish whatever I started. In the end though, I actually didn't regret it. And by season 3, I loved Shana, and it was Sakai Yuji that pissed me off lol.

Also even though it

which is more progress than most anime I've seen to this day, I couldn't find closure in that ending because I had no idea what the hell happened. Also might be because its been a year or 2 since I've seen it.

I don't wanna hyjack this poor guy's thread... so I'll just say it is my favorite anime of all time and I've watched the whole thing at least 7 times now (and countless rewatches of my favorite parts). When you've seen it that many times... you really begin to see how the third season was not out of the blue as it sometimes gets a wrap for. From the very first episode they are foreshadowing what is going to happen at the beginning of the third season and the coming war. I could talk about that all day... but maybe PM's or something lol.

Toradora is okay.

Shana clones suck though. However they cause the most controversy in a story, so people love to use them.

I loved the series myself , watched both subbed & dubbed . Even got the collectors edition Blu-ray/dvd combo set . If you do watch it , make sure you go thru the credits on the last episode (25) to see the ending . Otherwise you'll be mad . Or you can do like I did & marry your own palmtop tiger ! Mine's 5'1" (I'm 6') and still (not really) as tsundere as the day I met her >..

I'm really enjoying it so far, only on episode 7 or so though lol. But this didn't seem like one of those enter the relationship and build from there animes. I just feel like it's going to become a massive feels trip once the season starts nearing its climax and end. And in regards to monogatari second season, that actually piques my interest, I might have to watch something dumb before or after it in order to brace or repair my heart.

Well, in all honesty they all look good, great even But from what you've said, the childhood friend rarely ever wins, and all the harem members are childhood friends, except Tsugumi. #teamTsugumi wins confirmed??

What harem shows did the childhood friend win in? I think i might like those

Well like anything then, I'll just have to experience it myself. Anime BRs are an arm and leg though, so that is a significant statement. There's a manga for maid sama though, right? Did that 1 season cover it all? Cuz if the manga is finished, I might not mind reading it.

Well the only thing I know about Mashiro's name is Shiro; Which is the adorable little sister from No Game No Life; And they have the same VA; and Sorata's name has Sora; Sora is the older sibling figure in NGNL; and they have the same VA too = Some pretty promising chemistry.

You don't have to worry about that, unless it's against forum rules, I don't mind if the subject starts to head towards romance in general.

And I probably won't ever be able to watch SNS that many times, but I haven't watched a single series more than once except Love Live because moe, and Clannad because my old roommate wanted to see it. And in regards to the season 3, what I really mean is that the ending itself, even though I understood what happened and why it happened for the most part, still left a void. I really enjoyed season 3, and I think season 3 is a great showcase of Shana's development since season 1. It was just one of those endings that didn't do anything wrong, I just partially wish it ended differently.

Update: Well to try and understand the ending better for this post, I went to the wiki summary and actually ended up discovering that I had the ending wrong. I thought Yuji and shana were separated in the end but apparently

Don't remember what 90% of that means, but that last sentence changes my view of the way it ended lol.

Edit: I now remember why it disappointed me slightly. I was sad about how Shana and Yuji's existence would be erased when they went to Xanadu. To me, it threw their Earth held relationships out the window. And the concept of being completely forgotten is just kind of depressing in my eyes

I can not give you a reason to watch or not watch any particular show, but I can speak about why I do like Toradora. First let me say that Taiga is short and not a midget or dwarf (both are technical terms and have specific traits). First I found all the characters to be unique and not mere archtypes. One of my favorite characters in the show was Yasuko Takasu (Ryūji's mom). It seems in anime that parents are divided into 3 main archtypes. 1) Completely absent. "My parents are working in the United States so they let me stay here to go to high school." 2) Are superior parents or at least average. 3) Are rotten to the core. "My mom belonged to a cult and let the cult leader try and rape me." Now let's look at Yatsuko. 1) She is a single parent. Not unusual in anime, but most are widows it seems like. 2) She had Ryūji out of wedlock. (So yes, by technical terms he is a bastard.) I can't recall many (or any at the moment) of other bastards. 3) Her job is a hostess at a bar where she encourages other patrons to spend more money and does so by guzzling alcohol with them at a prestigious rate. Now I don't know how socially acceptable that is in Japan, but she does take a stage name so that might be a hint. 4) She is very immature in lots of different ways. But she is totally devoted to Ryūji. It just occurred to me that in one sense the relationship between mother and son is reversed. Ryūji is more of the mother figure and Yatsuko is the child. 5) She's is estranged from her own parents. But any other explantion goes into spoiler neighbor so will just leave it there. Yes it is true that Yatsuko is flawed, but everybody is flawed and in the show everybody has a flaw or two. Her big goals all revolve around Ryūji and her fondest desires if for him to grow up and become a good man and go to college. From the beginning of his life it's just been Ryūji and Yatsuko alone. Ye surprisingly neither are anti-social, criminal or psychotic.

So I like one character right? No, I actually like ALL the characters. None as mentioned above are perfect. They make mistakes. They laugh. They cry. Ultlimately it is a heart warming anime of real life. But it might not be your cup of tea. What I would suggest is give Toradora 3 to 5 episodes. If you don't like it than you know you gave it a fair shot.

Edit: Fixed a typo. Probably not the last to be fixed.

Well, I agree with you on the concept of parent characters in anime. Anime parents seriously have no issue with letting their children go off and make their own decisions in far away places. Ryuji's mom sounds like an interesting character though. I don't know anything about it though besides what you said here, so I'll make it something to look forward to when I go for attempt #2 on watching TD. I'll see if I will grow as fond of the cast as you have, because I'll need a buffer to help tolerate the train of Taiga's Tsun side.

Toradora is probably about one of the best high school romance animes that you'll ever see.

Taiga becomes more bearable and you get used to her more. I'd say give it another 2 or 3 episodes.

Also it should be noted that the ending is great. It does end happy, gives a good conclusion, and ends a bit open ended (but in a good way).

I say for sure give it another go. Also you may like to read some reviews on MAL if you want even more opinions:

Yeah Pet Girl follows the build to relationships plot, and is extremely inconclusive with where everyone is going by the end except for 2 people. (Although apparently the relationships do happen in the manga after the anime ends) Also best girl (imo) loses, which annoyed me. But it does get really feels trippy multiple times through it, and I was pretty much crying through the whole last episode. It has a lot more to take away from it then simply its romances though, which is why I say people that don't like romance animes would get a lot out of it.

In regards to Monogatari Second Season, ugh one of the arcs closer to the end was soooooooooooo sad for me. It was definitely the highlight of the entire monogatari series. Like Bakemonogatari and Nisemonogatari were not that sad, they had some moments, but I felt those two were more focused on the humor and supernatural stuff setting up the characters. If you watch Nekomonogatari Kuro (prequel part that tells Hanekawa's setup before Bakemonogatari) that was extremely sad, and helps setup her arcs in Second Season to be even more heartbreaking. But the entire Second Season is just like a repeated feels trip throughout all of its arcs. It really is a lot sadder than the other monogataris.

And ugh harems where the childhood friend win.....ugh hrm like there aren't even any that truly end that way, they are more technicalities (It's already hard enough to find one that even ends with a girl being picked out of the harem). The only ones I can think of are Nisekoi (because they are all childhood friends besides Tsugumi) and that nobody was chosen yet. Dragon Crisis also gets in on a technicality because the dragon girl (I forget the names atm) TECHNICALLY met the protag as a child (although I wouldn't necessarily say they were "childhood friends"). Myself; Yourself isn't really a harem (more of a triangle, but the one girl goes supportive of the other instead of going after the protag). However, everyone involved in this is also childhood friends too lol. Also it deals with some quite heavy topics so it might be difficult to get through (I was completely oblivious of what I was getting into with it besides my caution that the cover picture somewhat resembled the School Days characters lol).

I can't help with the manga since I've never read a manga once. I didn't know about the VAs being the same in NGNL. I should check that out. And I should clarify something I said earlier. When i said a rival for Misaki I meant a rival for her affection. Sorry about that sometimes my fingers don't get the full correspondence from my brain.
