I just noticed most of the largest threads in the anime section are discussion threads, so if it were possible to sort by most views or most posted in that might be helpful, or at least more stable when looking for some threads.
I don't know if it would actually be that helpful, just a thought.

Most recent post, actually.

Same thing. It's a compromise between most viewed and most posted on, as it will skew the forum further if the later is adopted.

It would stabilize the list though, which could have minor benefits.
They could give a choice somewhere
It's just a idea.
I don't know if it'd really be helpful.

What's her name, the lady who holds contests I think might be archiving the threads in order of importance and interest garnered, compiling them somewhere. I could be wrong lol.

My bad, I don't know what I'm doing on your thread lol, you'll probably get a mod to reply soon enough.

Ask Bjaker

There's a list somewhere.
I wasn't thinking of replacing of the current ordering method, just adding in an optional sort.
There are obvious disadvantages to only doing it by view count or number of posts. But if you know it's a well traveled thread, then clicking a button to sort by number of posts is slightly easier than either finding the index thread or clicking next page four times.
It's really a minor thing. It just popped into my head as something that might be useful.
I almost didn't type anything because it felt trivial, but then I figured, you know, maybe it could actually be helpful if you're new and looking for a certain type of thread.

Lorreen, one of the mods and not involved in Contest-Hime's contests (as far as I'm aware), maintains a discussion index for current and past anime.

Contest-hime awards some threads . Just remembered it's not just anime related threads she awards.

Lorreen mentioned closed threads.

So if you're already doing the leg work to find if it's a well traveled thread, why do you need to sort by number of posts? Sorry I'm not getting what you mean.

The only way I can think of them working if its most traveled is by the timing of post and that messes up what other options you'd like as that's depending on who's posting where.

Well you wouldn't. But if you don't know what you're looking for and just want to see the popular threads, then the easiest way is to sort them by number of posts and dispense with the most recent post method.
Sorting by most recent post gives variety and newness, but especially when there are a lot of new topics being generated it pushes some popular threads down, although those threads always spring back up. So threads end up in more or less random order if they haven't been posted in during the last day or so.

Edit: I really like the most recent post method, btw, I'm not asking to get rid of it.

Heh, I see. Will bookmarking them whenever they spring back up not help? If popular threads are characterized by number of posts and not number of views then...
Edit: Silly me, you're after most discussed. Same people tend to crop up in most discussed threads so they might be of more help.
