Why is it that people think gun ownership means you're either stupid or a redneck?

Guns were invented for killing, or at least injuring. It's a diddly darn shame people like that run around with them in general.

And thus running in the hallways rules were created

Let's not oversimplify. There have been whole generations raised in societies where private firearm ownership is an oddity, the exception rather than the rule. While one may point to the empirical data, to indications that the primary culprits of violent crime involving firearms are those using handguns, there's still the matter of acclimation to consider. People have, in some societies, gotten by with such limited access to firearms as to have no practical access to them whatsoever. We can't just call them "plebs" for thinking firearms are unimportant, they've lived their whole lives in the absence thereof.

Not everything is black and white, and not all gun owners are stupid rednecks.

But...

On January 15, 2015 these people showed up at the Senate building in Olympia Washington to make a point about the legality of open carry laws.

Now maybe, just maybe they all have advanced degrees in astrophysics. I dunno, I hate to prejudge.

To be fair, that flintlock bayonet rifle owned by the redhead is a pretty cool find to show off, assuming it's a true antique. Also, I'm digging that one guy's trench coat. Looks pretty pricey.

Do you eat meat?

I already answered this, but yeah, simply because I'm not allowed to not do it. I was a vegetarian for over 3 years and vegan, but I started to have health problems and was told by a few doctors that I wouldn't allowed to fully cut out that stuff. I only cage-free chicken, and if I had it my way, wouldn't eat it at all.

People who think this are actually the stupid ones. Rednecks aren't what people believe are. Rednecks are coal miners who wore red bandanas around their neck back in the day. These rednecks are also called union men. Guns are to protect and hunt. I support hunting and eating animals but I don't support killing just for fun. I can't stand people against hunting or wearing animals are clothing. Animals are here for us humans to be used. But because this is true doesn't mean we need to go out and massacre every single animal we come across.

The way firearms have been marketed in the United States makes them very attractive to gun fetishists, macho dudebros, and racists. It's not a wonder that news media focus on those people when it looks to film a group of people "representative" of the pro-gun movement- and perhaps this is not wholly undeserved.

It's not so much about the legality so much as it's about the culture. No one thinks that Canadians are stupider than people in the USA with respect to firearms, yet gun ownership there is on par with the USA.

When there are stories about a toddler accidentally killing a supposedly responsible, intelligent, gun owning mother in the middle of a shopping trip in the USA, it is difficult not to make a judgment about what the less responsible, less intelligent gun owners in the USA must be like.

I dont agree with it in any way whatever, sorry. I think even the fact we slaughter animals in factories is disgusting, let alone hunting them.

Along with growing and producing fruits and flowers faster depending on whether or not you talk to them and what music you play, studies have proven that plants feel pain and even sense incoming danger. Some plants even have a recoil response to threats. Do you think the fact we slaughter and mutilate plants is disgusting?

Food is food. If you don't like the idea of eating another living thing, find a way to survive by an artificial means or accept the fact that consumption of other life forms IS life.

We can both agree there's a large divide between plants and animals, right? I see no need to criticize AiYumega's decision.

So what happens if you get robbed?
Scenario 1 the robbers manage to get inside without you waking up they find you in bed suprised that someone is home.
So what happens next?
I somehow doubt they would gently wake you informing you of the robbery in progress and give you time to grab your gun to have a nice shootout. They would either way run immobilize you or take you out (maybe they are very disturbed).
So you having a gun or not would make no difference.

Scenario 2 you wake up while the robbers break in.
So what happens now?
Will you grab your gun run out and have a nice shootout? Risking to hurt innocence with misplaced shots? Maybe kill the next doors baby cause you missed or the robber missed maybe take out the first guy just to be shot by the second one you didn't know was there?
Or maybe you will call the police hide behind your bed and shout out to the Robber informing them that the police is on their way and you have a gun trained at the door and will drop them if they get close. Now i am fairly certain almost all robbers will choose to run in this situation they are robbers and not hitman after all.
You did not need a Gun in this situation the threat of one is the bigger weapon.

You don't think I have a roscoe close to my person is your first mistake in scenario 1, and they'll get down fast once people start hearing the loud bangs. (Or use ammo that doesn't keep going through walls)

Maybe this video might help you kids understand.

So you do think that they will wake you up gently so that you can reach for it and actually make use of it.
Well that is your delusion and you certainly are entitled to your own opinion.
