Okay... Coming from the South, I hear lots of stereotypes about us. "Hey... I heard you're from Louisiana... Are you a redneck? Do you like crawfish? You know Cajuns are nothing but white-trash, right? Are you finished eating your alligator? Do you eat road-kill? Do you eat possum? What about armadillo? Did you live on a farm? Well, what about in a swamp? What's your IQ? Do you hate gays? What about black people? Asians? Mexicans? Show me your teeth. Do you take a bath everyday? Do you have a farmers tan? Do you hunt? What about fishing? WOW! You have shoes! I'm amazed! Do you own a gun? Did you live in a trailer park? " And many MANY more. Jeez. I don't know what your problem is, but god, we're not all like that.

I feel your pain. I get that a lot as well. Other stereotypes that infuriate me are:

All Muslims are terrorists

Blacks are thugs and/or lazy, drug-addicted welfare queens.

Hispanics are lazy, drug dealing illegal immigrants who are taking our jobs.

Christians are a bunch of homophobic, Islamaphobic, ultraconservative psychopaths.

Being concerned about the environment means you're a tree hugging hippie.

Wanting to help the poor and disadvantaged makes you a bleeding heart.

As someone who is Hispanic, I've been told multiple times (on the internet but mostly tumblr) that I can't be Hispanic because I look white and act white. Like you want me to be like my crazy aunt and be loud/obnoxious and curse at you in Spanish??? I hate that stereotype.

Do they flip out if you tell them Hispanic isn't a race?

based on the last poll i saw, indeed. Being human gives you a pretty big chance to smoke weed. Being white makes me more likely to make meth though.

(According to the internet) Being a girl translates into being dumb and knowing how to cook very well.

That first part sucks, but that second one... I only WISH there were more females that knew how to cook or bake. Instead the task is too often left to me.. >.<

I thought about creating a thread about stereotypes surrounding "Girl Gamers", and how the online gaming community is mysogynistic towards female gamers , and that "girl" and "gamer" aren't mutually exclusive, but, meh.

YOU'RE NOT A REAL GAMER

STOP VIOLATING MY GAMES

Damned straight. If I want to play barbie's online adventure and get a date with ken, I should be totally able to withouthaving any "girls" screw it up... >.<

(two stereotypes there: all games have male dominated characters(I don't want to list all my favorites, but if you need a list I can and will provide) and men dont play games wih female leads)

Nope. Totally true. I've had a redhead confirm it.

Although im neither of these, i hate how people interpret Gay = flamboyant (like OP said) and islamic = radical. It seems like in America you can just assume these things to be true and it annnooyyys me.

another thing about stereotypes is they don't really occur until we make them occur. say for example: any race, color. creed. other, etc; had a monopoly on genius and/or anti-genius. you base it on the example displayed before you. thus thoughts become reality. at that moment in time they were a genius or anti-genius, it has nothing to do with ace, color. creed. other, etc..

Cant stand it when people call anime some sort of porn, of even worse - Kiddie porn.

There are plenty of anime/manga out their that isn't hentai or lolicon.
Most people, who aren't into anime, seem to believe that because of one anime they may have caught a glance of or one comment someone made about it and there fore it will forever more be demonised in their minds.

Yes, there are those animes that push the boundaries a bit, but its nothing worse than any other TV show.
I guess I just dont like that some people think that a couple shows represents the entire fandom when it does not

I could go on for hours on this subject, but for now I'll pick the one that sprang to mind first: Anyone who has any kind of noticeable body modification (tattoos, piercings, dyed hair, etc) is an unprofessional, rude and immoral person who doesn't deserve employment or the same treatment as someone with no body modification.

We are, thankfully, getting slowly more open and accepting as a general society, but I'm always getting shit for having 'extreme body art' when it makes absolutely no difference to the person I am at all! I've been in my current job nearly 2 and a half years now and I never mentioned to my boss that I have tattoos, because they're all in places that are automatically covered up by my uniform, so I didn't think there was any point in telling her since it would never be an issue. However, at a Summer barbeque party for all the staff a while back, we were all wearing our own clothes and the shirt I was wearing revealed the bottom of one of my tattoos. My boss went mad and blanked me for the rest of the day, and then on my next shift, I overheard her saying to another member of staff 'I'm shocked that she has tattoos - if I'd have known beforehand, I wouldn't have hired her'. So... I'm perfectly qualified for the job in both experience and personal attitude, but suddenly I have a few tattoos that you can't even see with my uniform on, and I'm a drug addled rapist or something? Thankfully that boss left and the current one is fine with it, but to think I'd have been turned down flat at the interview if I'd mentioned I had tattoos is just beyond stupid. I also like to dye my hair a lot of different colours but when I got the job, she insisted I had to dye it blonde and keep it that way or I'd get a written warning... and I'm not even going into the time she made me take out the VERY small tunnel stretchers in my ears and they shrank to the point where the holes completely disappeared, so now I no longer have piercings.

Basically anything dealing with race, heritage, language, religion, sexual preference, disability, ECT. Especially that Americans are fat, burger-eating, morons who are violent gun owners.

Your list includes many things that annoy me. Especially all gays like girl things... I'm straight and I love Bath and Body Works which would make me gay in men's eyes? It's so pathetic. People judge others because they are different but they don't realize that judging someone doesn't define the judged, it's defines the judger.
