Oh, and I forgot: thanks for the music links. I'll have to check those out. I love that song from PIKO. It was one of the best things from Binbougami ga!

And yes, I think Egoist first appeared in Guilty Crown.

I'm glad you checked out the links! I know, isn't that such a catchy song? (Piko's song)
Do any of you guys have a favorite Japanese song?

@ヂットさん If what I've read is correct, then Egoist was made for purposes of GC but then managed to continue as an actual band.

@イチ先生 A favourite Japanese song, huh? Don't you know it's hellishly hard to think of just one title and not give half of your entire music library as an answer instead? Oh well, since AKFG is currently going through its Renaissance with me, I'd say it's ループ&ループ at the present moment:
http://www.metacafe.com/watch/5805573/loop_and_loop_asian_kung_fu_generation_karaoke_sub/
(Pardon me for the video's quality or not entirely correct lyrics)

As for other options, I'd say:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lgiFPcPZkAc (don't bother with lyrics here, it's not like they make much sense)
or this
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VnLR7uu06XU

Obviously enough, what I consider my favourites is prone to change quite quickly, I expect. How about the rest of you, 皆さん? I'm curious

I usually just settle with having a top ten list of my favorite songs. Then it grows to 15... then 30... I remember last year, some of my friends and I decided to make individual lists of our favorite songs. My friend Mary only got up to 5, but since it kind of became a competition between my friend Hannah and me, I got up to about 41.She beat me by about 9, though.

I know senpai! It's so hard to think of a favorite song--as of this moment I can't think of one favorite song, as I frequently listen to lots of Japanese (and even Chinese and Korean) songs. I really liked that first song in the YouTube link you gave us. Japanese rap is so cool, it reminds me of one of my favorite genres of Spanish music: Reguetón, which is like Caribbean rap! Anyway I can say with certainty that my favorite song in English is the song Blue from the last episode of cowboy Bebop. The ending was so well done that it is one of the best anime moments, which I'll always take with me for the rest of my life! Anyway if anyone wants to listen to that song here's the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=03qBqP2I4p8

一番好きな日本の歌、えと
Favorite Japanese song, hmmm....

I agree that it is really hard to pick, and my answer might change on a day to day basis. Here's one you might not have heard of:
無敵のSoldier by Jun Maeda × yanaginagi (麻枝 准×やなぎなぎ). Fortunately this is posted by the artist in good quality, and the video has lyrics.

Oho! So the topic of Japanese music came up already? Fufufufufu, this could end up as a very long post. I don't think I could single out just one song but:

一番好きなバンドは LUNA SEA です。
Yeah, Luna Sea are old (like 90s old ~ X Japan era) and I only discovered them after they'd gone on hiatus but I collected up almost their entire discography on CD. I love the album 'Mother' and songs like 'Rosier', 'G.' and 'In Silence'. They recently (nearly 2 years ago now) got back together (just like X Japan) and released a new album which I also really like. The older stuff is heavier and rougher and the more recent stuff is a little more mellow and laid back but- Just, all of their stuff is good - do check it out if you like Visual kei and rock.

AKFG I avoided like the plague for a long time but ultimately - I caved and gave them a chance. I'm really glad I did because they are SO good. My favourites would be フラッシュバック and サイレン but again, I like pretty much all of their stuff.

Alice Nine and Golden Bomber I've heard but wouldn't consider myself a big fan of. Golden Bomber are really fun to watch. I like 女々しくて. As for Alice Nine, I think Shooting Star is a pretty good song.

Kishida Kyoudan and the Akeboshi Rockets are great, going on what I've heard (HSOTD / Ripple). I love the guitar in those tracks.

2NE1's 'I am the Best' got me into K-pop. Well, that and BIGBANG. Even now it feels weird saying it but I really like K-pop.

I was super into Nightmare for a really long time because they did the Deathnote OP/ED. Recently, I've gone off them a little but I still listen to their older stuff.

Speaking of Deathnote, Maximum the Hormone are terrific. Another band which are great fun to watch. They sound heavy but don't seem to take themselves too seriously and I bet they put on a hell of a show.

I could go on and on but I'll just list a few more and call it quits for now.
Dir En Grey
RADWIMPS - possibly my new favourites, got into them big time over Christmas
Bump of Chicken
L'Arc en Ciel
Mucc

and don't get me started on composers. *cough* Hiroyuki Sawano *cough* Nobuo Uematsu *cough*

Sorry for the oversized post. I've been busy with college and such for a while but when I checked in and saw everyone discussing music, I couldn't resist, heheh...
TL;DR 音楽が大好きです!

Thank you for your long post Cloud san! I agree with your statement that Golden Bomber are fun to watch-each one of their videos are really great and funny too! I've heard of Maximum the Hormone, Dir en Grey and L'Arc en Ciel, but I've never listened to any of their songs

I forgot to mention the band One OK Rock. I think their songs are great and I love it when they sing in English and Japanese! This is my favorite song of theirs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hh9yZWeTmVM

Also I rmeember a couple of years ago I used to watch this video a lot. The song is called "Punky Heart" by LM.C. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GUucLEOsAO8

I can't think of ny other songs or bands I like because I mostly listen to iTunes Radio--I jump around from Golden Bomber Radio, Fahrenheit Radio, Luna Haruna Radio, and Jiang Xiao-Qing radio. If any of you have an apple device, or iTunes, you should really check out iTunes Radio, it's really great

Yep, Kishida Kyoudan and The Akeboshi rockets did the OP for HOTD. They also did Strike The Blood. Sometimes their stuff appears on iTunes. Seventh World is a good one: https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/sebunsuwarudo/id544901615. Give the title track a try.

I'm not much of a Visual Kei fan. I like a smattering of stuff here and there, but I guess the look is too 70's for me. I've lived through that once already. ;)

For something different, give World Order a try. Their videos are awesome.

I'm sorry I haven't been active much everyday here, it's just with my two courses just beginning I'm really busy! Mandarin takes up a lot of my time studying because I'm a complete beginner! And I have to keep up wit my Japanese too because I want to do really well in my Japanese 2 class! It's just 2 languages at a time is really a challenge! Anyway, I just came back form Mandarin 1 class and it's late here, but since I'm not that sleepy yet, I decided to finally respond to some things here!

The beginning Mandarin class wasn't that bad--it's just that my teacher is a lot more strict than my Japanese teacher and we spent half of today's class on the tones! So I can safely say that I now know the four tones! But for Sushi san and for anyone else who knows Mandarin I have a question: Don't you think the second tone and the third tone sound kind of similar? To my ears, they sound almost identical, but except I feel like the third tone is a little more elongated than the second tone. I can't really explain it All I know is that I have to study the pronunciation tomorrow! Man, aren't we lucky that Japanese pronunciation is relatively simple?

Thank you so Ditto san for recommending World Order!!! 本当にありがとうございます!They are not what I'm used to but I needed a music change! And I absolutely love their videos! I showed my dad one of their videos and he was laughing at it-he liked it too! Their videos remind me of this one music video I saw: A PV for the Japanese department store Isetan! I love it because it's so catchy! And won't it be cool if our department stores like Macy's or Nordstrom put together a music video like this? But I feel like only the Japanese can pull off an awesome video like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gBwzxydX3rY Hope you guys like it
