One of my uncles in Georgia got arrested and now we have to go pay his bond. The family isn't too happy about it but we're strong believers in "solidarity" and have to go help the guy out.

It matters what the bond is for. I once paid my own bond (at 3.75 a transaction, max withdrawal 300, let's not get that confused) caved and made the call to have my dad pick me up from the side of the highway after I got out of jail. DUI.

Believe me, a "solidarity" family does so much more than a "you're-a-fuckup" judicial system.

He's a fuckup, but it just means you might be too and they will still get behind you.

Nope. My brother got arrested but we were just going to let him sit in there over the weekend. My aunt and uncle got him out though not realizing the rest of us didn't want that.

Not to assume anything, but damn. Just damn.

I don't have aunts and uncles to call. Jail is a catchall, lock em up until their court date unless they can pay or if their crime is too big to pay for.

If the OP's family is going to pay bond, either they're real rich and real solid, or the offense wasn't worth even a weekend, and somebody goes to help. Either way, that's a solid family.

Well it would only have been for the weekend and considering he had decided to go around causing thousands of dollars worth of damage to random peoples cars we felt it wouldn't be too bad for him to stay and think about things. He definitely learned his lesson though. He had been going down a pretty bad path till that point. I think he also at this point would have preferred to stay the weekend since he was given a lot of trouble by my aunt over repaying her.

Then it is best, your aunt handled it better than the judicial system could have.

that's pretty f'd up.

Well he also got hit by that too. I forget how long he had to go to jail for...6 months I think. He got buried in debt to his friends family since the friend was involved and the friends family took care of the lawyer part. He ended up owing multiple family members as well for the cost of being in jail and all kinds of other stuff. Aside from that he was fine though. My parents went and visited him practically every day. He knew he wasn't alone but it was also made clear that the behaviour wasn't going to be tolerated should it ever happen again.

Sitting there for 2-3 days never hurt anyone. I wouldn't expect or want anyone to pay for me for something I did wrong. Hell, I wouldn't even bother calling anyone. I wouldn't even care if nobody visited me. It's a punishment for a reason. I would feel differently if I were innocent of course.

My oldest brother and cousin got arrested a few times. They once made a phone call home at the wrong time which was when my uncle was there. We were going to bail them out but my uncle refused. They were gone for a couple of years behind bars, my uncle just told me that he'll pick them up when they did their time for being idiots. But we did bail them out the first time they were arrested, I just can't remember the year.

I've bailed friends for vandalism(trumped up) and possession. I've left behind drunk drivers and wife beaters. As far as I'm concerned; some people merit some time locked in a box.

Never, because I don't associate myself with trashy people and I don't have the money to bail someone out.

Yes, two of my brothers...it was the first time for each of them and I told them it was going to be the last time so they better behave and think better from now on.

I have another brother who's going the same way (all the guys in my family are the same shit) knowing my mother, I will have to pay for him...I just do it because of my mother but if it wasn't for her I would let them rot in there.
