I don't really have a problem with them but I find it hard to take them seriously for some reason. I get them being used jokingly, but there's something about them that strikes me as unprofessional. I think it stems back to how, for the longest time, I had no idea what the fuck they were for, so I found them silly. A bit of that 'finding them silly' feeling stuck with me even after learning about them.

The fact that everybody else who uses hash-tags are foreigners. Sometimes I feel like I'm making an ass of myself since I use hash-tags on certain things, and if I click on a hash-tag, I'm the only one speaking English and everybody else on the feed are Mexicans or something.

It's stupid. When it first started I was like "Why the hell are people using a pound sign?"

Same.

What's wrong with just saying what you want to say?

They originally were supposed to be away of tagging things to create collections, much like tag clouds work. Instead, it devolved into trying to use them for a quick gag. I occasionally use thembut in general find them rather pointless.

I know several people that put more effort in the hashtags than the actual post
Stuff like this:

Hanging out at the beach!
#sun #water #sand #bestsummerever! #withthebestie #lovingcali #calilife

I'm okay with them if they are used responsibly to tie a post to a keyword or topic and only if that post actually contains something useful or entertaining.

There is no need to tag your mundane daily life. Stop that, you are devaluing the tags by adding random noise.

When they overuse hashtags. An example is on Facebook, someone uploads a picture of say.. their pet and then they add like 30 hashtags where only like 2 or 3 are relevant to the actual photo. They're the sort of people you see spending their days at starbucks, wearing hipster glasses, wearing skinny jeans and taking selfies/photo's of their beverages.
