With Oculus Rift and stuff around the corner, I was just wondering if there was a Virtual World would you consider living there instead.
Just like SAO

It turns out the machines didn't have much to worry about to begin with. Considering all the people who want to be in SAO or an equivalent they might as well have just advertised Matrix pods on TV or something.

After seeing the Oculus lap simulator, that's where I want to live.

It'll be a rich person's toy until we can get the price down. Much like how the ouya failed, we would also need to develop games and simulations for the devices in order for them to be successful. Luckily, as a game developer in training, I'm working on it - and so are many other game developers. One of the games I would like to make is basically a virtual world you can live in - so yes I would.

I'd encourage others to lose themselves in it and be able to move more freely though the real world myself..

hahahaha... who am I kidding it'll become mandatory for life much like the internet has, and we'll all be fucked.

It'd be cool but like every game/mmo, it would get old eventually.

I wanna help people in need (whenever I feel like it.. I know that sounds bad lol) and feel accomplished about it. Even if it means helping someone leveling up

This.

Although it sounds cool and all it'll most likely fuck up your senses if used too long. And not just that, since it's virtual, what about your real body? Still needs some source of energy to operate like food and water.

But to compared it to SAO, that's on a completely different level of technology. Since NerveGear and the other tap into your brain (most likely the nerves). But Oculus doesn't. It's just visuals.

Definitely. I'm perfectly fine with being reduced to a standalone brain too, if that's what it takes.

Maybe we don't see many aliens because they're all a step ahead of us living in a virtual world?

I would much rather live in a virtual world. I'm tired of this one.
