This thread is awesome. I've been looking for ages for an online community that I feel like I can really "gel" with. Since becoming more and more interested in Japanese media few years back, I've found it harder and harder to find people who are on the same wavelength, but I'm already getting a good impression here. :)

I, like many people above, use anime and related media (visual novels, video games) to help me through depressed spells. While I'm not glad to see so many people suffering similarly -- depression is rubbish -- I am glad to see other people who find as much value in this sort of thing as I do.
