Posted 1/22/15
so..ghosts.......
Just the thought of ghosts gives me the chills and
I really don't want to believe in them lol
I'd Prefer to believe in things that are still alive. xD

I've Never seen an alien, but i do believe in them.
I think their technology would be far beyond our imagination.
I don't think we'd even able to see them physically lol
what do you guys think?

Putting ghosts and aliens in the same category is a bit bizarre. Statistically, given the infinite size of our universe, the billions of stars (more than 400 billion, to be exact) in our galaxy alone, and the almost infinite number of galaxies present in the universe, you can be quite certain that our planet isn't the only planet that harbors life.

It's possible (statistically probable would be a better word) that, at this very moment, there are sentient life forms on another planet that are at or near our level of technology and social complexity. There are civilizations that are thousands of years behind us, thousands of years ahead of us, and civilizations that died out before the Earth was even habitable. A realm of infinite possibilities, 99.9% of which our species can't even see or detect with our current technology.

Despite everything that I've said above, I feel that it's unlikely that we've been visited by aliens.

Ghosts, on the other hand, fall firmly within the category of the "supernatural". They simply don't exist. Over the entire span of human history, there has never been a single shred of evidence that points to the existence of anything related to the supernatural.

Yes on both.

1. There have been isolated...incidents. They aren't very frequent but I have witnesses to one of them. Why oh why does an entire room shake randomly without affecting the rest of the house? One of the walls in question was straight up bricklayer without a standard inner wall. Anyway... at this point I can't discount any possibilities but I don't really have any fear either.

2. Aliens... with the scope of the universe I would be surprised if there weren't any. That being said I also believe that it would take one hell of a resilient life-form to travel those vast distances without death.

Ghosts and aliens represent the unknown. Ghosts being denied largely on account of a bias against belief in the supernatural. So, one of the reasons I haven't made a similar thread already is I already know how lukewarm and ambivalent (largely due to the presence of aliens) it would be received. Anyways, to answer OP, I believe in both (I haven't sufficient reason not to), and not one or the other contradicts my faith, as it exists to me. In fact, I'll be of a few sooner to believe in ghosts first.

Ghosts are difficult to prove, although a personal theory I've had is that ghosts are merely afterimages of a human's perceptive of another dimension. Since we are aware of time, perhaps we are capable of occasionally perceiving different universes with different timelines that parallel out own. Think of it like membrane theory, where universes collide and therefore affect each other (and in many cases, create big bangs). Of course, I cannot prove this.

It would be absurd, however, to believe that other intelligent species do not exist. Out of the billions of star systems in our galaxy, which is merely one of a hundred billion galaxies, it would seem highly egotistical to call ourselves the only intelligent species. Basic probability simply wouldn't allow for it. We, however, are still a very young species in the universe and we do not even have the capacity to leave our own galaxy. In other words, it might take time, but we will doubtfully run into another intelligent species.

I say intelligent species because technically, all life on Earth were once microorganisms in space, hence "aliens" (anything that is foreign to the Earth), and we have found microorganisms living in space already in the modern world (also aliens).

Okay this may sound weird but like I have a theory that Hell is on Earth. Like we can't see it around us but the ghost that haunt are actually in hell, doomed to relive their terrible lifes or curses them for what they done. idk just thoughts

I'll believe in flying cows first before I believe in the supernatural, which include aliens.

____

Billions of humans have died pre-modern day, are you telling me all of their ghosts are roaming around here? and at what point does a human becomes a ghost? Were Homo erectus ghosts too? Or is it only when organisms evolve to homo sapiens do they become "ghosts"?
Why do they only come out at night? and why are they clothed?
why are only old places haunted? but not newer places? why don't they appear in crowds?

Yes. I do believe on both of them. Its just scares me to death watching horror movies. And I dont want to see them with my own eyes. LIKE NO!! And I also I watched videos and articles about aliens. Which really caught my interests since I was young. Just yesterday I watched another alien documentaries.

I try not to believe in things in general. The moment you make up your mind as to whether something is true or not is the moment where you close off alternate viewpoints and interesting discussions. Ghosts and aliens both might exist, and to me, that's the ideal point for them to be in. Facts are boring; ideas are exciting. Proving that they do or don't exist would eliminate the sense of mystery and the theorizing that makes them so fascinating.
