This whole thread is for people who have finished the manga already. If you don't want spoilers please exit the thread now as I won't be spoiler tagging everything.

So I just finished the manga and it felt really bittersweet. I thoroughly enjoyed this manga and while it was a good place to end, I can't help wishing it had gone on for longer. Some stuff just never got resolved like when Nishimaya was trying to say "I love you" to him. God that part was so precious. It makes me sad that it was never really brought up again before the end.

Yeah. I wanted more. I thought that they would end up together or something.

I'm still fairly annoyed that they didn't wind up together in the end. I need an epilogue chapter or something because god damn was I bothered by the lack of confirmation. Those two love each other dang it even after all the horrible things that happened between the two! Those first few chapters were still a tough read though.

For real I thought there was going to be another chapter with like a "10 years later" type deal. That would've been absolutely perfect. And yeah the first few chapters of this manga were very rough. I honestly almost didn't continue after the first few chapters but I heard the manga was really good. I'm really glad I continued and I'm really glad people were recommending this manga on the forum or else I would've missed out.

It's still very much worth finishing. It's just a very open ending.

Nooopppeee

I was perfectly happy with the ending and the author completed what he set out to do when writing it. All the pairings are already implied and romance was never the main force in the manga.

I'm used to open-style endings and this one was one of the better ones.

THEY DON'T END UP TOGETHER!?!?!?!?

Edit: Never mind I read you're comment wrong. I thought you said there was an epilogue chapter where they didn't end up together.

An epilogue is needed

Same here. In fact I tend to like opening endings more than explicitly and neatly wrapped up ones.

I especially hate epilogue-style wrap-ups. I have some ideas why i dislike them so much but I'm too lazy to go into it.

Because they're lazy shortcuts that skip over all the development needed to support them. At least that's what I think.

Looks like nobody posted here for a while lol.
I just finished, loved it, but i don't like that they didn't officially confess.
She tried that one time. I'm sure they are together, or will get together, but I know that what I wanted to see most, happen within the two year time skip. It was frustrating!
Great read though, loved the ride.

If this were a pure romance manga, I would be pissed off at the ending. If the point of your story is to show how "Guy and Girl Get Together", then you'd better darn well get together.

But Koe no Kitachi isn't a pure romance manga. It's a manga about bullying, friendship, depression, and forgiveness (of oneself and others). The romantic element is there to support those other themes. From that perspective, the ending was fine; it showed how all of the characters had come to accept themselves and each other and move forward with their lives.

Yes, the romantic in me would have liked to see the two leads get together in a more obvious and explicit way.. but that wasn't the point of the story, so I'm generally okay with it.

Assuming this is "Koe no Katachi" (sorry, I'm only familiar with the Japanese title), I've only read the oneshot.

Is this series a good read?

It's a very good read. Personally, I think the first volume is brilliant, and while the rest of the story isn't quite as good, it still tells a satisfying and interesting story.

This series was one I was seriously looking forward to reading each chapter while it was being simulpub'd here. In my opinion, it was a wonderful story, I would recommend it to anyone.
