I think whether you like the ending or not, It's subjective. For example, I thought the ending of Aldnoah Zero was really good, even though most hated it, and I feel like that's what saved the show for me, because most of the series is pretty bland.

Ending is paramount. A bad ending certainly does ruin an anime for me - which was certainly the case for fate/zero which is why I recommend that you don't watch the original fate/stay night before watching fate/zero.

you have to watch fate/stay night first then fate/zero, its meant like that... the plot twists are also better

People say that it's epic but fate/zero is the biggest disappointment that I've watched. I actually enjoyed fate/stay night (the original) more than fate/zero despite the fact that fate/zero is meant to be amazing. The way it ended just made it all feel mediocre. It's more worth it to enjoy fate/zero to it's fullest by not knowing what happens than to watch fate/stay night first.

True Ending:

Kyosuke X Ayane OTP.

Also, I see a lot of Arkarda watchers in this thread already, to which I wholeheartedly agree with. The ending is indeed paramount. It can make or break a show. Take Valvrave for example. It had a fantastic season 2 and the ending redeemed what had occurred in Season 1 (space rape vampires). I enjoyed the ending to season 1 of Aldnoah Zero but I'm definitely hoping it pulls a Valvrave with Season 2 to make the show even better.

But yes, an ending can and will kill a show *coughs* Toradora *coughs* although that show was a shitstain on anime as a whole to begin with...

I would have said yes a few years ago, but I don't mind a weak ending now unless it is egregious.

I dont really think it completely ruins the series but it defiantly can change my perspective of the series as a whole

Well, you should actually watch Heavens Feel before you watch Fate/Zero, which is kind of hard, seeing how at this point a Heavens Feel Anime does not exist and not everyone wants to read the Visual Novel. Still surprised to see that you were disappointed by Fate/Zero, one of the first people I have met who say so. You could probably appreciate the ending much more if you had gone into it already having experienced Heavens Feel, but then again, we have like four threads talking about that on this forum alone, so there would be no point in talking about that here.

Controversial oppinion much? Although I do agree with it, at least in parts, Toradora's ending was far from perfect,

I don't care what you people say, Hunter x Hunter (2011) and Death Note had the laziest ending ever.

Not all anime is going to have a good ending. Most of the series that get released are made to the purpose of pushing the source materiel.(manga, light novels, or visual novel) If anything a bad or a cliff hanger ending gets me to search for more about the series. Sometime an anime series can get either the OVA treatment like Mirai Nikki, they get the Inuyasha treatment and get the final arc animated, or The FMA treatment and get the series a whole new animation. I think if an creator, writer, director..........really wasn't happy with his work he would fix it. I can't a series end ruins an anime for me because I believe it only peaks my interest about a series even more.

It really depends on the anime. I would say Half and Half >.<

Not really. I can still like the anime without liking the ending.

No, usually even if I'm not satisfied with the ending, my overall opinion doesn't change.

Yes the ending is an important factor.
