From the trailers and gameplay demos, even the opening, do you think its going to be one of the best tales of yet?? I just recently saw the opening and it was mind blowing. I just hope it isnt just all hype like xillia althought thats just my personal opinion. Sorey seems to have that same cliche wish wanting humans and spirits to live side by side i kinda feel like thats starting to be a bit overplayed, and some of the characters i feel arent really varying from others on the other games. When will we get another badass vigilante like Yuri as our main character???? +
mikleo is apearently the heorine? What....

You shouldn't expect something crazy from Tales lol. They always add new things and it takes time for me to adjust to the fun. BUT it IS a new Tales game and there has not been one that I have not enjoyed. I own games released from Tales of Symphonia to Tales of Hearts R, besides Vesperia. The only game that kinda fell from my taste was Graces. The battle system was terrible lol

Really? Because i actually enjoyed that battle system the most. It was just a tab broken and didnt feel grounded but i liked it alot better than the linear system. I didnt like graces though lol Vesperia was my favorite just due to the amount of content that was in it which me feel good that i spent 60 dollars on it

I would wait for the game to come out, before talking about this game. Don't know about this game, but a lot of Tales of games have average stories, not to mention music.

I traditionally joke that the entire middle tier of JRPGs is made up of Tales games, and that still holds true, IMO. Do not expect a mind-blowing experience, and do not expect Bamco to reinvent the wheel. You will most likely have a good time, and a good return on your $60 (U.S.) investment.

Some people consider it a pet peeve but personally I can't get excited for these games because of how we are forced to play with the English dub.

I wouldn't want to watch Star Wars in Spanish to mention one example in order to put my point out there.

I don't know. Battle system looks different and the characters are... generic if I'm honest. We'll see if the story is worth the inevitable 60 hours it'll take to complete when the reviews come.

Haven't heard or seen much of it but I've thoroughly enjoyed every Tales game I've played. Even if it has excruciatingly annoying party members at times.

Not a big fan of rpgs, but I don't really know what to expect of this game other than potential flaws in game design.

Too bad it's only on PS3... I have a feeling many Japanese devs will be skipping the PS4 this gen since it's more catered to Western gamers

I think that of you've played and liked other tales games then this one shouldn't disappoint. Although I would hold off on getting excited for it being the best tales game ever.

I read a lot of reviews on the Japanese Amazon page for it. It has a 1.5 star rating with about 80% of reviews giving it 1 star. A big reason for this is despite presenting Alisha as the main heroine, she actually has a very small part in the game. People are also pissed off that in order to play as her and get a scenario with her you have to buy a 1300yen (I guess around $13) DLC.

I will play it when it gets localized, but I was really looking forward to Alicia, and recently I found out she pulls a Flynn and leaves for most of the game. In Flynn's case, that's okay because Yuri was WAY better, but Alicia looks like a great character.

I am sure it will be great though. While my #1 game is FF XII, as a whole the Tales series is my favorite and I have played all of the localized games in the series except for Tales of the World and Phantasia, and I loved all of them, especially Vesperia (my #2) and Abyss (my #3). I even played Vesperia and Xillia in Japanese. The only one I felt disappointed in was Graces F, and even then it was still a good game, just not up to Tales standards.

Personally I loved Graces. Asbel felt like the most human protagonist and the easiest to self-insert into. He was a normal kid who was hit over the head with responsibilities and chose to run from them, but eventually had to face his life and make good on all of his relationships. Pretty much every other main character had to deal with a tragic past or some kind of special destiny. It was extremely easy for me to relate to Asbel.

That said I have loved the majority of the Tales of... games. My one exception would be Xillia. I couldn't like 99% of the characters. Xillia 2 was great though, the silent protagonist oddly fit very well into the mix. I am wary about Zestiria though, as a lot of people were complaining about the characters aside from the Alisha issue. The characters were what ruined Xillia for me, I hated Jude, I found Milia to be boring, the only characters I cared about were Gaius and Jude's Childhood friend (I forgot her name ironically) and I hated that she liked Jude because Jude seemed to not care about her at all, she was more like an acquaintance to him than even a friend.

Honestly the only way to make a story work where you hate your protagonists is like with School Days, you show people what they want to see, the hateful protagonists getting demolished.
