4k is useless for screens 21'in or less hell I'd go so far to say 40 to 50" in up close maybe 1440 or 2560.

I know this won't happen for another 2, 3 years but I would actually like to see Crunchyroll support 4K.

I wasn't a fan of 4K resolution till my grandparents purchased 84" Toshiba 4K and I tried them myself personally. The screen was more crystal-clear than my already phenomenal 40" Sony Full HD TV.

4K is probably a decade away from being standard for anime.

1080 is still just an upscale.

4k?
Lolwut?

Its mostly anime, i know some people watch the japense drama's, but most people just watch the anime. It would cost WAY too much money to host 4k, to stream it, and also the companies would have to MAKE the anime in 4k for any of that to actually work. Not to mention, 4k wouldnt really affect the anime's AT ALL. What you WANT to see is a better refresh rate. Most standard things are around a refresh rate of 32 pictures per second. Depends on what its filmed with or what program(s) are used to make it. Thats something that would make a huge difference to me. I have a 120hz tv, but its almost wasted since i dont even have a blu ray player that plays that - nor anything to watch thats recorded in that.

4k & refresh rates are a little more complicated to make and obtain then you might think.

So the answer is that maybe in 15 years we will get 4k anime. Probably not though. Probably just 2160p. xD

I live in mexico, my internet can hardly stream 1080p. I don't really need anime to be that high quality.

There's no point in getting 4k as long as no animes are made in 4k.

this. if they release 4k for w/e reason, it's just an upscale of 720p/1080p (mostly 720p since even 1080p anime are rare)
it would just be a waste of bandwidth.

The last anime to be RAW natived picture at 1080p was WitchCraft Works. You don't even see RAW 1080p now at days , give a chance of 10 years I say for 4k.

4K isn't worth it unless you have a screen smashed up in your face or a screen that's really.... REALLLY..... REAAAAALY big.

I don't really feel it's widespread enough to warrant it yet.

This will take quite a while.
4K technology has barely been finished right now and we're talking just about the basics for that.
To make this work universally it will take even longer, as we would need proper hardware to display and run it and shows will have to be made in 4K in the first place.
