We should deal with ISIS by not dealing with them. Protect our assets, aid our allies if requested, but otherwise engage the Somebody Else's Problem field and forget they exist.

The ostrich defense never works with problems such as this. Also when they say they are coming for you do you really sit on you rear and wait for the next 911?

how we get the Japanese to stop fighting? We nuked two of their cities, we did not target soldiers we hit them hard. Anyhow that is the point its a fear tactic used to get the people to get up and fight the ISIS, so we don't have to do shit. Maybe just nuke on of their known bases to show that we will do it. after that I am sure the people will stand and deal with ISIS them selves or they might have to deal with the awakening of the sleeping giant.

I don't honestly think this is a fair coment. Nuclear weapons solves nothing. As for Hiroshima and Nagasaki. If you want to begin to understand some of the suffering the US caused by dropping those bombs read Hiroshima Diary by Dr. Hachiya and Children of the Ashes by Robert Jungk. Besides that ask yourself, how you would feel if you were minding your own buisness and the next thing you knew a bright light flashed and your were watching your loved ones skin melt and peel off like a wet paper towel, your father, mother or childrens hair started falling out, and your body looked more like a half used candle whose whax dried than a person. Apply this to your entire state and everyone in it. Then add black rain raining from the sky and destuction as far as the eye can see along with the moans, screams and wails of people who are being tormented to death by radiation. On top of all that add people who can not walk are are dragging themselves along the ground to find water and rivers that are filled with blood dead bodies and the stench of death. Here is a quote from Children of the Ashes from an actual acount shortly after the bomb was dropped of a cameraman in Hiroshima named Haruo Hiyoshi realting his account to the author Robert Jungk.

"Haruo Hiyoshi was a cameraman employed by the leading Hiroshima Newspaper Chugoku Shimbun. During those days he walked back and forth throughout the ruins of the desolate city , carrying his camera, but he took only a few photographs. As he explained to me later: 'I was ashamed to give permanance on film to what my eyes were then forced to see.'

If only he had mastered his honourable repugnance! Posterity would then have been given a far more adequate picture of the 'new weapon's' effect than is to be derived from those much-reproduced photographs which usually depect Hiroshima after the disaster as a desert of ruins , without human beings. For it was no quick and total death, no heart attack of a whole city , no sudden, agoniising ending that struck Hiroshima. A mercifully quick release, such as is granted even to the vilest criminals , was denied to the men, women, and children of Hiroshima. They were condemed to long-drawn -out agonies, to mutilation, to endless sickness. No, neither during the first hours, nor in the daysthat followed was HIroshima a silent 'grave-yard, filled solely with the mute protest of the ruins , as the misleading photographs imply; rather it was the site of movements repeated hundred thousand times, of a million agonies that filled morning, noon and night with groans, screams, whimperings and of crowds of cripples. All who could still run, walk hobble or even drag themselves along the ground were searching for something, for a few drops of water, for food, for medicine, for a doctor, for the pitiful relics of their possesions, for shelter . Or for the uncountable thousands who need no longer suffer, for the dead.

Even in the unending nights, beneath the blueish glowreflected from the piles of corpses that the clearance squads had stacked with military precision, this wimpering, helpless hurrying hither-and-thither never stopped." (Jungk 20)

I just ask that you ask yourself if the Atomic bombs were truly nessecery, regarding how this whole thing relates to your comment about nuking ISIS, ask yourself if what I just described would truly deal with them or just breed more hatred. In addition, is what happened in Hiroshima truly the world you want to create? Or is there a better way than just destroying things you don't like?

That's absolutely true, which is why I said that his comment was confusing. The statement of executing everyone who claims to be an "Islamist" is silly. How often has anyone come across someone who claims to be such a thing? It's not like you can go outside and pin-point an "Islamist". It'll most likely fall under the category of muslim and what they're ~supposed~ look like.

Why not focus on preventing this from happening again and stop letting countries train small militant groups to begin with. ISIS and Al-Qaeda were both funded and trained by members or affiliates of the US government. So let's stop training people to fight our illegitimate battles. The next step is to focus on the issue at hand. ISIS and other extremist groups are exactly that-------Extremist. The Islamic religion is not to blame. For those of you that wish to blame them let's look at the witch hunts led by the church or perhaps the crusades. All ran by extremist of a religion. Extremist make up a small percentage of all religions. Period. As far as ISIS goes, the more they act out, the more people will hate them which will lead to more individuals that know information to come forward. Over a period of time they will be brought down. Not that it matters. Another group will come forward after that to replace them because the underlying issues that causes these groups to form will still exist. In order to fix the problem individuals on both sides need to find a common understanding of each others cultures and respect each other. That is unlikely to occur since fear of the unknown leads to anger. And anger leads us to rash decisions. IE nuking someone, killing an entire religious group, etc. End of rant

The nuke thing was a jest, you know I was joking... You find I am the least angry person you meet, I am 100% mellow, maybe the way I portray things might make me seem aggressive online, but I assure you I never been angry over anything.

Anyhow I have learn if you want them to make mistakes or even stop their aggressions, fear is key. The reason they do what they do is they don't believe you can do anything to punish them or stop them for it. So best way to stop ISIS would be to get them to fear you. (that's just my understanding through my past as a military soldier.) Nuking them was me going over the top in jest on that way of thinking. Meant for humor, but it seems I stepped on some toes and made a few people but hurt over the jest.

you arent the least angry person at all, the very things put forth in this thread prevents them, that nuking them was even thinkable to you in such a situation is violent, if it really was a joke, which i really doubt it was,(i think it was written at an emotional moment and you were fired up), then it was one of the most tasteless in the known universe.

"Islamophobia" You religious people are stupid. I don't care which is the biggest religion because all of them are pure stupidity, they all come from the same one and differ just a little each one. I'm not saying christians are good in any way. By no means.

You can call me racist, ignorant, whatever. The fact remains that sooner or later, everyone wakes up, just like the 2 women who went to support ISIS, and were used as breeding tools by the soldiers, then wanted to quit after a while.

Now here's a little bit of info for you, why i am this hostile. In sweden right now, the powers that be are planning on letting people who fought for ISIS come back, and get benefits, instead of jailtime. Yes, in sweden, if you rape and murder, you get a job and an apartment. AND FURTHER MORE someone put up an ISIS tribute flag quite near where i live, we're talking a couple miles.

And i'm sorry to the people tucked home in their little cozy homes thinking nothing will ever happen to them. But i'd rather act prior to my sister or mother being attacked by one of these creeps.

There are more than one creed withim the muslim faith, most of them are harmless. But it's easy to see which religion on this earth is the most destructive.

I may be a cruel man but i can also see what needs to be done. And since the world is so "multicultural" now there is no room for one religion that says "fuck all the other ones, if you're not with me i kill you, and even if i die, i get 72 virgins to rape in heaven"

Do i pick up an axe and start murdering anyone that looks foreign and say that Tyr or Odin told me? At which point does this stupid blaming your behaviour on religion stop? If you think about it, in the norse religion you're almost reguired to annihilate a group of religious fanatics trying to take over the world.

Do you not think that ISIS has innocent people at their camps? You're going to kill them as well? How does that make you better than them? God, there's so many stupid people on this planet.

America needs to educate you better OP.

Meh. Go watch both of the Barefoot Gen movies, and do further research on nuclear disasters. Read some books. Then tell me if you still want to nuke isis. Either way, you thinking that "we only" nuked Japan to get them to stop fighting is just wrong. There were high ranking officers back then who said we absolutely didn't have to do it then, and I'm damn well sure we don't have to do it now.
