Disgusting.

I swear, Asians are the worst offenders when it comes to this kind of stuff. My friend, MadameNoir, sent me one of those Taboo videos on food, and these Asians eat all kinds of animals, from snakes to monkeys to turtles. It's not the type of animal that bothers me, it's the way they kill those animals.

They cut the snake's gall bladder while it's still alive. Couldn't watch the video after 5 minutes.

I hate snakes, but it doesn't deserve that kind of treatment.

What was that internet quote? "You can tell a man's nature by how he treats animals?" that is so true. So I always laugh when people come to me saying humans are above animals, b**** please, we're below animals, at least animals kill their prey before eating them.

Humans are TRULY DESPICABLE. --Death Note.

It's untrue that all animals kill their prey before feeding: Spiders spring to mind as the most obvious example. Heck, even vegetation is guilty of this if you look at carnivorous plants. A mammalian example would be baleen whales, who feed on large quantities of plankton and small fish alive by filtering them out of the water in their mouths.

That said, I do find the practice of eating something alive abhorrent in humans, it strikes me as pointless cruelty.

Wth? people do this? THIS makes migi and the other parasites look like saints in comparison. The titans in attack on titan that senselessly kill and eat people for no reason (they don't need to eat to survive) are beyond the shadow of doubt monsters in every sense of the word. bravely fighting against these monsters despite the odds is a big appeal of the show, but when I see articles like this I just.. I don't even know what to say when people act and commit the same heinous actions that are depicted in gruesome fictional/fantasy based anime.

While I can appreciate super fresh seafood having the owner of said flesh watch as you consume what use to be their body seems cruel and unusual to me...

Check out the frog one! http://youtu.be/iwzPqQeLtyM

Hey, at least they're not tossing the whole live thing down their gullet--like in swallowing a live goldfish. :p

Man that's messed up, it's hard to eat when the cruelty is right in your face but i'm not sure westerners have a right to criticize since factory farming is suffering from birth to death and the suffering the fish must go through is alot shorter albeit alot more horrific.

But doesn't the video say that the fish are only sometimes still alive when people eat ikizukuri? Movement doesn't mean "alive." Muscle spasms occur early on in death. Nonetheless, I prefer to not witness this particular event, especially after having sat through one of my late dogs going through it last August. The ikizukuri that are supposedly still alive are served with their organs intact. I don't find the sight of raw organs, much less, working viscera, appetizing. Besides, I'm not really a fan of raw flesh, be it fish or otherwise. Altogether, ikizukuri puts me off my food.

I cannot say that eating living creatures is wrong, however, not without being heavily hypocritical. After all, fresh yogurt, kefir, and good cheese are also alive, believe it or not. Also, I've watched too many nature documentaries, as well as watching animals in person, to not know how commonly "eating alive" plays out in nature.

I love seafood in general, and quite a bit of sashimi. But no, that's revolting. If it's something like Fear Factor and I get a million dollars for eating it, then sure. But I have zero desire to eat it or to even be in the same room as someone eating it.
